SONAR PART OF GPS NOT WORKING
.
<b>~ Captain Paul's response to: ~ jMarkT ~
Did you check all of the connections? There may be some contacts for the GPS function and some for the sonar part of the system in the same connector~power cable. Be sure that there is no corrosion on any of the contacts on either side of the connector.
If you have not checked the connections, disconnect the device and clean the contacts on the power/data cable and the cable connection to the transducer. Voltage impedance in any of the contacts will limit the power and restrict the use of that function. I use a bronze pistol cleaning brush and a little squirt of WD-40.
If that works then you have solved the problem. If not then I suggest that you first try the Lowrance Support section on their web site. It is located at
www.lowrance.com/ Find the section dealing with your unit and pose the question about your problem. You may also find something under the frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section on your unit.
I also have a number for the Lowrance Support section which 1-800- 324-1356. Select the proper category for technical Support. Be prepared for a wait to actually speak to a technician.
Let me know how you make out.
