We have been on the water 8 out of the last 10 days with all good results! The weather has not been acting like summer time but the tuna and snapper have been up their normal activities. Well it seems like the word is out that the lump is back and the proof has been lying on the docks of Venice marina everyday! The truth is no matter which side of the river and whether you decide to target wahoo or tuna the fishing right now is about as good as I have seen it in years. Here are couple of nice Wahoo from Friday with a great group of guys from Texas!! It was a pretty day to be on the water up until about 3:30 p.m. when all hell broke loose! Been hitting Delacroix trying put something on ice due to lack of interest on the offshore front with limited success!! We kill em one day just to be disappointed the next. While it has been a hot one for the last couple of weeks the gulf has been flat calm just about everyday. After taking a break for a while with all of the dirty water pushing out of Mississippi river the tuna are back in full force! Capt. Jim and I were back on the boat on Monday with a group of guys from Pennsylvania. Here are some pictures from Sunday 6/26 with Danny Taverner and crew. We put a little of everything in the box! Venice grand slam...bottom fishing, deep dropping, and bluewater. Final tally: 12 red snapper to 25 lbs, 2 scamp grouper, 3 yellowedge grouper, 2 bearded brotolas, 2 ufos, 6 triggerfish, and an 80 lb yellowfin. A little bit of everything was the theme of the day for Saturday! We left out of Fourchon for the Swollfest fishing rodeo and started the day off with a pretty hot tuna bite in the canyon with a double on the first pass but only managed to put a 50 pound yellowfin in the boat.
