Hunting in Louisiana
looking for opinions - wanting to buy a new scope for 308 and thought i could get some input. want a scope with good clear view out to about 400 yards. would like to stay around $300 if possible.

also, just curious about how many of you deer hunt from the ground and how much of a disadvantage do you think it is opposed to tree stand hunting?

my 2006 chevy p/u just turned over 30000 miles actually has 30059 which puts it out of warranty. went somewhere earlier and drove about 5 miles and the a/c was blowing great. parked for about 30 minutes and went in the store, came out and started truck and no a/c. you can hear the compressor kick on when i turn it on but absolutely no air comes out. it is evidently the fan because i turn the.... Read More

the other is stan sloan's booza bug/zorro jig. bass pro used to carry this one but doesn't anymore. i found a website for them but it now says for dealers only and i saw no way to order.

if anyone sees these.... Read More

Fishing in Fourchon / Grand Isle in Southeast Louisiana
fished the surf at fourchon today. water was calm and decent looking. i was about 25yds from one of the rock piles and had two trout on a stringer which i had tied to my belt loop. i went to take a step and felt a pretty good jerk on the stringer, i grabbed it and attempted to pull it and it jerked it real hard. at this point i was going to untie it and let it go but it had pulled the knot so.... Read More

i consider myself a pretty good plastics fisherman but we may hit the surf this week and need a little advice about live bait. for croakers, what is the prefered hook size? also, i'm guessing you hook them slightly behind the dorsal fin? and last, where can we pick up some croakers on the way to fourchon?

question:

what is the percentage of loss when fileting specks?

example- i have 25 specks that total 50lbs, what is the percent of filets i will have as opposed to waste.

also, since the season is approaching same question for crawfish. i would think crawfish waste is around 80%. as would be crabs a(if not more) shrimp is probably less, in my opinion.

fished montegut today. wind wasn't to bad to fish, but close to it. all around the wonder lake area the water was dirty. started off in what we call the texaco slip on bayou terrebonne right across from roland's launch. had 6 or 7 boats in there but the only one catching was a fella in a 5 foot bass buggy with a fly rod. he was very consistent. the water there looked good and we fished it about.... Read More
