My plan is to take the 4 wheeler trail going furtherest north and crossing the waterway called Big Ditch and walking north a good ways after that. Mid to North Tangipahoa Parish. I have been seeing deer on the roads relatively often lately.
1 to 2 at a time mostly. On my way home from work yesterday,in an area along the road that I always see a doe, I saw a brand new fawn. Just as shiny brown as could be, with spots as white as snow!!! Just laying down next to the woods.

30-06 vs 308.
Im an 06 guy but a friend of mine is looking to start deer hunting next year. He is down to one of the two choices.
My question is, compared to the 30-06, how much knock down does the 308 have and which one would you say shoots the flattest.

I shoot a 30-06. To me, that is plenty of gun.
Friend, new to deer huntin, is buying a rifle.
He is down to these two choices.
308 would shoot flatter I expect but what about
knock down power?

Can someone explain Area 1 early and late rut times? Is Early and Late for diffent portions of area 1? If so, where does Tensas or Franklin Parish fit? Or East Feliciana to Washington Parish? Exactly what is what. Thank in advance
