Our family was blessed at 3:16am Saturday morning. Our son Ben's beautiful wife, Brittany gave birth to our first grandchild, Lillian Grace Naquin!!! After seeing how good the weather was on Saturday, my son and I decided to head down Dularge to chase some trout today. Went down Du Large today enjoy a day of fishing with my son Ben. Started off with a big thunder head not letting us get to our speck spot, so we went to plan B, Redfish! Fished from daylight until about 9:30 catching several nice keepers for the grill and a couple of monsters that were released to fight another day!!! I took my son-n-law, Chet fishing down DuLarge this past weekend. Hoped to head out speck fishing along the coast, but changed to plan B an went redfishing instead. Had a great day and caught some big reds. Several 30' to 33' Kept a couple for the pit for some good eating! Looking forward to the next trip!

I took a buddy down Dularge for a afternoon red fishing trip. High winds made it tough, but we managed to limit out in a little less than 2 1/2 hrs. with some real nice reds! Cocahoes in LSA and Blk/Chart were the ticket!

Today I harvested a good Canadian Deer (South La., really), but it felt like Canada with Temp. of 18 and wind chills probably sub zero. Ice covered all water in the woods and was from 1/4 to 3/4 inches thick. For the past couple of weeks I have been in the Carolina's working with our circulation field managers for the NC & SC Sportsman Magazines. I had the opportunity to make a couple of hunts in NC on some property leased by Bruce (our NC Sportsman manager) & their family. I had to drive to Georgia for meeting this past Friday. After the meeting, Chip of Green Ranger Distribution service invited me to make a deer hunt with him on Saturday. We left out about 5 am to head to his lease. Chip had mentioned that there were allot more deer activity this year than usual. Yesterday, I fished the Good Ole Boys yearly bass tournament. The lows were in the 40’s and it warmed up to the 60’s after lunch, but with a “strong” wind. This weekend started the begining of the 2006 Media Bass Circuit with the first tournament held out of Bayou Black. A good number of boats showed up considering the conditions, 30 degrees,and 15-20 mph North wind. Believe me when I say my 901 Nitro/200 Merc Optimax seemed alot more willing to go fishing than me. After many years trying to take a 10 pt., it finally happened! I took this 165# 10 pt. after awaking from a short nap. He was just standing there drinking water from a puddle. Thanks God I woke up before he walked off. I guess lady luck was with me.

One of our members killed the biggest deer I've seen killed in a long time this past weekend. A nine point, 177#'s with a 20" spread. Unbelieveable for where we hunt.
