Wednesday morning, 43 degrees, wind from NW at 17-25mph. Perfect conditions in so many ways! We only saw 3 ducks the entire morning! Anyone know of any good timber hunting anywhere in south or south central LA on public land?

Sooo glad we didn't let the wind keep us home! Took off work today to fish, hit the causeway and even with high winds, took home 34 beautiful trout! Rattletraps with B-2 squid trailers or matrix shad clear? (don't know the name of it). About half hit the trailers, half hit the 'trap. Had to really slow it down which meant trolling into the wind today. What a great day with my oldest son! .... Read More

Thanks to Capt. Jack and Cindy for a great afternoon yesterday. Jack was really helpful in pointing us in the right direction, and Cindy had the live shrimp ready for us when we arrived.
Had a dead battery on my truck when we got back. No sweat. Capt. Jack had us stay in the boat while he jumped it for me and backed the trailer in. Thanks!

Here's a picture of a nice alligator snapper I caught a few years ago while conducting a swamp tour. The folks were from Austria, and boy, did they get a kick out of this! Boy, do I miss it sometimes!!

Mixed box of fish Friday. Against my better judgement, let some folks at the launch early Friday morning sway my opinion about how rough the lake was, so instead of plan A we went to Bayou Bienvenue to launch. Called my son this morning, he had 7 nice fish in the boat, told him, "Come get me!" Met him at the Bonnabel launch, we went out, got 3 or 4 more, biggest was right at 3.5 lbs. or so. Seems like lemon drop was what they wanted. Didn't want to come back in, but had to go to work!

Fished this morning at the trestles, along with a hundred other boats! Caught 10 beauties, biggest at 4 pounds. Seems like everyone had 5-10 fish, no one really killing them.
Missed 15 or so good hits, can't figure out why ... I mean, they hit it HARD, but just wasn't quick enough setting the hook, I guess? Also lost several good fish at the boat.

we hit em thursday and although we got there late we did....
WOW! What a ride today! I've always felt my 21' Champion was a great riding boat, but today not only proved what a great ride it has, but also how seaworthy this boat is. If the hull design hasn't changed when it comes time to buy another, I know what boat I'll be buying.

Hey, guys, anyone have any FIRST HAND experience with and can recommend any good depthfinders? Looking to buy a combo GPS/Sonar, color, large display (6"?) for my 21' bay boat, thru hull transducer or not?
Specifically, looking for advice from someone who has used the Sonar to find and catch fish, not just using it for finding contours and ledges, etc.

Daniel Raggio and friend caught a dozen or so peacock bass this weekend near Miami, FL. Way to go, Dan.
The photos are identical, except that one had a little work done to it. Used the clone stamp tool in Photoshop to "copy" the roseau cane and "stamp" them to where the buildings are (were). A neat and easy way to remove ugly distractions from a photo!

I believe that one of these is at 29° 41.073’ N lat ~ 89° 17.855’ W. Longitude and another is at or about 29° 44.000’ N. Latitude ~ 89° 23.230’ W. Longitude.
All positions are stated as ddd,mm.mmm and were determined using WGS 84 datum.
