After Hunting this Teal season it has become painfully evident just as last year. When individuals are invited by land owners to hunt on their property/ or Leased property. My hunt was disturbed during prime hunting time by individuals running wild and crazy with their mudboats some even passed about 20 feet off of our decoys. The land I hunt on is Private property and accessible by everyone....  Read More

Teal season wrap up!

This years Teal season was below average as
far as the numbers of birds we had. We did
shoot limits a few times but we just didn't have
concentrations of birds. The Teal season is no
indication of how the regular season will be and
we can't wait for it to open on November 15!....  Read More

Things are so messed up with private property and state property. Listen to this story.
In 1893 the state of Louisiana sold property to my GrandPa around Catahoula Lake. We have a recorded deed and been paying taxes ever since. Some years later after they built some water control structures on Catahoula they started back flooding said property. Then the state claimed all property at a....  Read More

Hunted alone this AM and limited out by 7:45. Would have been no problem to have had a second person limit with me. Had teal coming in as I picked up the decoys. Water is VERY high though and the birds are in the flooded marsh think of the shallowest pond you know and go there. Road around some bayous checking on thins for a friend and it looks like birds were holding on the small potholes just....  Read More

Waterfowl and Duck Hunting in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
I just had a cancellation for Saturday, so I now have an opening for a group of up to 4 for a Teal hunt or a 'Cast and Blast'. Today my group decided that they would rather do a mid morning fishing trip instead of a hunt because it was dead calm and they didn't want to pass on a perfect fishing morning. We left out around 830am per their request and we were able to have non stop action....  Read More

Date hunted and picture taken 9-20-14:

Extremely high tides for the weekend changed the game for the worse. The wind never let up keeping the mosquitos down but the price paid with high water is no Teal. High tides always seem to be a huge factor for us coastal marsh duck hunters. As it stands now the ducks still have access to feed but it doesn’t seem to matter. 6 guys went out....  Read More

Hello!

First of all I would like to tell you who I am and what I offer here at Old School Kennels. My name is Chad Guess and I have been an avid outdoorsman since I was old enough to hunt and fish. From an early age I was an animal lover--especially hunting dogs in particular. I really understood them and they really understood what I expected from them. This was extremely fascinating to....  Read More

Or any other hevi products.. what are your goto shells?

I stick to Hevi Metal 3' BB's for everything from puddle ducks, to honkers, to snows. For me, it's just easier to stick with one load and not have to switch around for various hunts.

What do you use?

Killed 5 teal between two hunters in Hopedale this morning. If only we could shoot BBWDs in September ............, I could break out the big gumbo pot. Didn't hear much shooting around me and water was goofy high.

  • Cajun Fishing Adventures in Buras LA is your best bet to turn your teal season around.
I've been hunting the teal pretty hard since opening day. My best luck until today came down at Cajun Fishing Adventures in Buras, LA. CFA usually has the best teal population in Southeast Louisiana and this year proved to be no different. We got in after daylight on Tuesday and used their duck barges to pull into a roseau cane blind. Teal were working from the moment we got there. A little....  Read More
