Went Wednesday, and water was low and clearest it has been in a while. This time of the year makes the biggest difference if you have the ability to stand up. I was able to spot reds left and right and even throw a spinner at a sheep head and he it, (Normally this never happens unless its dead shrimp). The drum was caught in deep water on dead shrimp. The reds just wanted something gold.....  Read More

How do you know when the locks will open and close? I've had buddies tell me about getting stuck outside for hours. I feel like if I could plan the times I'd be better off.

Another Catchdat Thanks Giving Morning!!

Terry seems to have a tradition of a quick limit every Thanks Giving morning, I just received his report and the tradition continues.
Terry and Mr. Robin took off in the Gator Tail rig this morning and busted 50 trout by 7 am! They played catch and release with another 30 or 40 and left them biting. Man, do I wish I was there!
His report....  Read More

Happy Thanksgiving! We decided to beat the crowds and fished Tuesday out of Hopdale. Haibo and his daughter Anna joined me. It was her first fishing trip. Wow, did she pick a good day. It was chilly, windy, and overcast. Wanted to avoid a long cold boat ride to keep her from turning blue, so stayed close to BSM. Tide was falling all day from 2.0-ft range and north wind. First stop, just a....  Read More

Inshore Fishing in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
The fishing was great today at Sweetwater Marina here in Delacroix. Folks were able to get back to the launch early with limits or close to limits and make it home by noon. Perfect for Thanksgiving Day fishing. The weather and fishing should be fabulous all the way through Sunday. We have plenty of live shrimp, so donít miss out, this kind of fishing doesnít happen year round.

New customers Robert & Kasey Daigle and Jimmy & Candice Jeter were with me today on the big Bluewave. We found a slow bite at our first two stops, then.......BAM!! We put 90 trout in the big K2 within 30 minutes!!!! It was quadruple hooks up, the Shimano rod n reels got a workout!! Big smiles on everyone's faces as the bite was so fast and furious it was just plain stupid. Every....  Read More

Seeing that my friend and I took the the day off work, our trip couldn't be a failure. The sun was shining and it was better than being in the office. Well we tried our luck at the wall and after two Hours, we only had five okay sized trout. We found a cut in the ICW and it was non stop redfish action. Ended tge sat with 10 trout, one drum and nine redfish. The cooler was so full, I miss....  Read More

Dr Deep Chada and Mathew Modisette joined me on the Big Bluewave. It's was 11yr olds Mathews first fishing trip, and boy was it a great one!! Mathew caught on quickly as he had the specks coming in just about every cast! Dr Chadha really wanted his nephew to hook a good red, mission accomplished. Mathew caught the biggest red of the day, which gave him a good work out. The Shimano reel....  Read More

Inshore Fishing in Leeville / Golden Meadow in Southeast Louisiana

Fished the Leeville/Golden Meadow area last weekend. Friday was slow and ended up with only 6 reds, all 18-22 inches. All were caught on live cocahoe minnows on the bottom in 2-3 ft of clear water.

Saturday was much different despite the wind. We fished with Captain Vern Ledoux with Bayou Boyz Fishin and he didn't waste anytime putting us on the specs. First stop put 50+ 14'-18' trout....  Read More

Today was one Great day of fishing down here at Sweetwater Marina. I couldn't keep count how many people limited out on trout and reds. Most fish were caught in Skippy Lake and Lake Batola. Capt. Jack went out on a charter at 7 am and returned for 1pm with 84 trout, 6 reds, and a bass. Overall just an awesome day. The weather is going to be great the next couple days so come on down and get in....  Read More

Kayak Fishing in Louisiana
I've been researching on Google Maps and the best launch site I can figure for this area is Eddie Pinto's Bait Shop just south of the ICW bridge on Paris Road. It looks like a paddle of a little less than two miles.

Or is there a closer spot to put in?

It looks like easy fishing when it's cold: http://www.nola.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2014/11/early_winter_drives_easy_speck.html

  • YAK SAFELY
ATTENTION YAKERS: PLEASE USE CAUTION AT NEW LEEVILLE LAUNCH. STRONG CURRENT & MARINE TRAFFIC POSSIBLE.

I encourage everyone to wear their PFD while launching at the new Leeville kayak launch. This area of Bayou Lafourche tends to have a strong current. On windy days, launching while battling the wind and current, could make for a dangerous environment. This intersection is also....  Read More
