Summertime is just around the corner folks. Our spring fishing in Venice has been about as good as it gets. The lumps produced a few decent tuna this year, but it was far from spectacular. That did not really matter though. Instead of chumming and drifrting all day we would run to the floaters on nice days. Live baiting 60 to 100 pound yellowfin tuna in early March was the ticket. There has been.... Read More

Yesterday I had Don, Tim, and Sean on my boat and it was a beautiful day to be on the water. The winds stayed down, which made for perfect conditions. The shrimp were everywhere in Lake Mechant and we just bounced from one flock of birds to another. A lot of smaller trout were mixed into the catch but it was a great site to finally see some shrimp action. Tim, who is from Michigan, caught a.... Read More
Hey guys. Was interested in getting into some jug fishing for catfish. Are there any rules and regulations for that? Or will a basic fresh and saltwater fishing license be fine? Also if I catch other game fish on the jugs such as redfish, drum, and etc. am I allowed to keep them? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
My son wants to go fishing this weekend. I was hoping someone could point me to an area where he can catch some catfish and bream. I live in Walker, so I the closer the better, but I am willing to drive further to benefit him catching fish and haveing fun.
We woke up to cold and windy conditions this morning but the sun was shinning bright so Capt Josh and I decided to go look around and see if we could find some clean water on the backside of that crazy front that passed through Monday night. Our First 2 stops in Lake Merchant we found dirty water and not much activity but at our 3rd stop deep in the marsh we found what we where looking.... Read More
Why is there an absence of fishing reports from regular weekend warriors? All I see is reports from guide boats. The guides are the best, we all know that & this site is great for advertising but what about us blue collar boys? If I end up with 6 or 8 fish for the day that's enough to feed my family. Come on boys lets weigh in with the big dogs & share a little info. I can only.... Read More

Recent transplant from TN to Baton Rouge. Looking for a place I can fish with easy access. I have picked up that BR isn't the best spot so I understand I'll have a drive. I've got a 16ft War Eagle with a 25hp so not a boat for big water and I have a 10ft kayak. I'm not picky about what I catch just like being out and catching fish. Any pointers or suggestions would be great.

Ben Bouterie and crew with Acclarent came into the Lodge Wednesday night. Chef Shawn P boiled up some crawfish and fried fish for the guys, a good night was had by all. We pulled out the lodge this morning at day break. Our first few stops were slow, then we found what we were looking for. Silver head shakers hitting the K2!!! Tiger and Shrimp Creole Matrix under a cork did the trick. Once.... Read More
Today I was part of a 3 boat trip out of the Reel Inn down Dularge. I had a group from Texas on the Skeeter today and at first light the party started! We were slinging trout in the boat for awhile til the jaws locked up. After that it was a game of cat and mouse but the guys enjoyed themselves tremendously. Many jokes on the Skeeter today better left unsaid! Big thanks to Capt. Marty LaCoste.... Read More
Saturday I took the girls out and fished the Rigolets and Bayou Peroit areas. The wind was really bad so we just stayed close to the wall and anchored. They were fishing Bait Shrimp tight lined on the bottom and caught a nice mess of Reds including a very nice Blue Cat. Plenty of throwback rat reds which made for some great action and a fun afternoon.
Saturday, April 12, 2014 Texas Boyz Having Fun Down In Grand Isle
Had the pleasure of taking some Texas boyz fishing, Steve Roberts and Jason Simmons. Stopped by T-Pops station and picked up some live minnows and headed south to Bobby Lynn's marina. This was their first time down in Louisiana and we wanted to show them a great time on the bayou.
