  • Hybrid Duck (Brewers Duck)
Towards the beginning of January near Lost Lake in Theriot, Louisiana Jody Marcel of Dularge bagged a Brewers Duck (Gadwall/Mallard Hybrid). At first we were not sure exactly what he had, but we knew it wasn't something you shoot everyday. Killing a hybrid is something rare, needless to say it will be hanging on the wall in the near future.

2014-2015 season
I hunt in Evangeline Parish/'coastal zone'.

First split: we had no ducks

Second split: it was slim to none until new years, when ducks started showing up. We began shooting teal, then teal and mallards. As the season closed, pintails mixed in with them. Having the extra week really help put birds in the freezer as the last week was the best. Unfortunately my....  Read More

If you hunt the Biloxi Marsh with a mud boat you should contact LDWF. They are fixing to restrict it down to 16 hp and less with staight shaft only. I dont know if it will do any good, I think it is coming from the land owner and if LDWF does not do what they say they may pull the lease.

I would like to lease/rent a piece of property for the upcoming 2015/2016 Duck hunting season. If long term is available, I would be interested in that as well. Looking for something to have family oriented. Would also be willing to help with landowners request, help, work days etc. whatever it takes to build lasting relationships. I appreciate any help or guidance on where to start. 10 acres to....  Read More

Hunted Stuttgart and Watson Arkansas Mon-Wed. Had three great hunts. Was able to hunt an awesome pit blind just north of Monroe in Arkansas that borders Overflow Wildlife Refuge. If anyone is looking to book a hunt and have the time of your life in what I would call one of the best locations the south has to offer, you need to book with this guy. As soon as I hear back from him I will provide....  Read More

I'm new to the duck hunting scene, and I went on a guided trip in Kansas with Central Kansas Outfitters. They really put us on the birds. After 3 days we killed roughly 125 birds. I think we had a total of 77 mallards, 2 pin tail, and 46 geese. We did end up with a banded specklebelly which was pretty sweet. This has really made me want to get into duck hunting even more. I know it is ....  Read More

Well I wanted to post my thoughts, opinions, and results for my hunting experience with the late season we had this year. We always have a pretty decent first week of the season. I was very excited to say the least about the decision to move the frame work of the coastal zone season back one week. As my lease is in the marsh less than 2 miles from the coast in a fresh water impoundment we always....  Read More

Well another season is in the books, and it was a fairly decent one. How'd everyone else fair? Ended up with a total of 131 ducks and 3 geese in 13 hunts. Hunted 2 man blinds just about entire season all on public land. Limits every hunt up until New Years then slowed down just a bit. Average came out to just over 10 birds a hunt and right at 5 birds per hunter per attempt. Here's the....  Read More

LATER, SEASON PAYS OFF Now what we need too make it a little better is to have a 3 week close for the 2 slit , that would give us a great 2 opening and then get WLF to get the feds to give us a day or 2 in FEB. so we could hunt the hole month of JAN. All in all had a great season in the deep south.

Sad to see the season come to an end. It was a banner year for us with duck numbers.
Ended the year with 481 ducks on 35 hunts. Had a great mixture, killing 13 different species of ducks. By far, ringnecks were our most prominent bird. The season started great and never slowed down! The later start and finish for the season worked out great for us! Averaged 5.82 ducks per hunter, per hunt,....  Read More

I know this is a shot in the dark, but I lost my duck call lanyard somewhere along Hooper Road in Richard Yancey WMA. It had 5 calls and 1 band. It's a custom lanyard with orange around the neck part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • 2 Widgeon - Nice shooting those
  • Last day hunt sunrise
  • No wind - Mirrored water this morning- Look at the mojo
Date Hunted 1/24/15:

For some reason the water was above normal but we had a good breeze blowing from the west. I was hoping that would get some ducks on the move but not to be. The early flights of dosgris that were there the week before disappeared. Didn’t shoot a dosgris on the weekend. We ended up with 2 widgeon (don’t shoot many of those anymore) – 2 greys and a teal. Slim....  Read More
