My in laws have a camp in Huxley in Shelby Texas and I know this is Louisiana sportsmans but where can you hunt or what is the rules on licenses with la and tx and also what is public and not on the Texas side
This has been the worst opening weekend in the East Zone ever. All of the ducks that were in the marsh in October have been chased out by the fronts and the high water. The Northshore of Lake P should not be in the East Zone. Don't get me wrong, I like being able to hunt both zones, living on the border, but the habitat and the variety of ducks is the same as the Southshore/Bayou B area. ....
We had an interesting few marsh hunts from Friday-Mon. Friday we jumped about 500 ducks out of the pond on the way out. They made no calls when they jumped, so we didn't know what they were. I knew they weren't greys, Mallards wigeon or pintail. They revealed themselves quick enough when we got the decoys set though.....Left right up and down ringnecks came from everawhere! It was a beatdown....
Wondering if anyone was selected for the East Zone opener at Southfarms, or others who will be lucky enough to get selected this week on how it looks out there. I've been selected for the Dec.5th date & would just would like to know how things are w/ high water. Thanks
Well after prolonged Indian summer, it looks as though liquid water will be in short supply north of MO by turkey day. Will this result in a glut of birds and an end to gripin or will the tales of short stopping by DU and it's endless acres of flooded sauna heated corn fields commence????
Yesterday was definitely one for the books. This was one of my favorite hunts for a tv shows. I was able to hunt with CT Williams of BIGFISH. It was truly an amazing hunt that I'll never forget. The birds worked perfect and were committed to the decoys which then gave us between 25 to 30 yard shots. After the limit was shot we were able to sit back and enjoy watching the grays pour into the....
We have been real busy keeping up with these ducks, so here is a report of whats going on down here in Delacroix. Our duck season has been spectacular so far. Our clients have had limits or close to limits. We have been shooting all sorts of birds like Grays ,Teal, Pintails, and Red heads just to name a few. The water level has been real high so the birds has been sitting in the marsh but that....
Tommy & Eric Halverson, and Gabe Mule' have been hunting with us for many years. Today, Brian Harris joined them. Today as always, Eric was deadly on Goose Hunts. The others come to keep him company, lol. Calm winds, clear skies today. Killed 6 specks!
I love the early opening ... In fact it needs to be earlier ... Typically the last two weeks in January suck for us ... No water, no birds and if there are any birds they're too weary to decoy or come close to anything that looks like a blind.
This year has been excellent so far ... I've hunted 4 times and have had 3 limits of greys every hunt by 7:45.
Shot with a wooduck at shooting time. Biologist say it's a piken duck. Has woody eyes bill and tail. Even has slight coloring to the bill. Anyone have any idea if it could be mixed with woody or what it could be. Number is 985-768-0109
I have an opening for tomorrow and Saturday for up to 4 hunters! The hunting has been nothing short of phenomenal with limits every single hunt so far! The recent fronts have pushed ALOT of birds down and you wont want to miss out on this opportunity! PLEASE CALL NOW!!!! 504-427-4973
This was our first guided hunt this season. We saw a fair amount of geese. The geese did not respond very well early,as the morning progressed the wind blew more and the geese began to work better. We missed a few opportunities, and only ended up with 4 specks.
We had a great opening weekend at the Lodge. It was great to start off the season with a bang. Our blinds produced 250 birds so far. We are expecting a push of new birds to show up with a front coming through tomorrow. This is a good opportunity for great hunts at special prices. The hunting will be taking place in the coastal marshes of southwest Louisiana in CAMERON PARISH.
Fanny's Family has been having decent hunts but the high water has been tough on us so far this season. We are seeing good numbers of ducks but for the most part they are traveling high and not looking to use our area. We are able to persuade enough ducks into the decoys to get in some good shooting but things are not perfectly lined up as of yet. We were planning on making a road trip....
