Inshore Fishing in Bayou Bienvenue in Southeast Louisiana

Violet Locks

Does anyone know if the Violet locks have been open lately? I'm planning a trip for Sunday (launching out of Bayou Bienvenue) and want to be able to make my way to Lake Borgne without a headache. I'd heard that the Bayou Bienvenue locks have been closed so I figured I'd take pencil canal down.

The locks are opened and closed depending on the water levels. The water has been high the last week and I received two alerts that the locks would be closed.

Bayou Bienvenue remains closed for extended repairs. Violet is generally open, but is subject to close at any time the water level is high.
