Deer Hunting in Lake Pontchartrain / Northshore in Southeast Louisiana
Waste of a Fine Animal!
I grew up here, graduated high school & college here & now live elsewhere. It really ticks me off when I find deer that have been shot, mutilated for their racks and dumped by the roadside. I've seen it many times when I return to visit the area for the Holidays & deer season is open.
I took a ride this afternoon
(1/2/2013) down La. 434/Lake Road south which parallels Bayou LaCombe and ends up on the shoreline of Lake Pontchatrain. In between the 2nd & 3rd bridges, on the left/east side of the road I was haulted in my tracks when I saw a beautiful male deer that had been blasted & had 1/2 of it's body skinned & the complete head & front legs. The meat is still red & couldn't have been there more than 1 day. See the attached photos of the wasted deer. I did call the LWFD in Baton Rouge for the St. Tammany area but the agent on duty that I spoke with said that some other calls about the deer had already been placed but not much they can do at this point. Again, what a waste!
