Are You Keeping Up with the Gun Bans Proposals?

If you are not keeping up with what is 'brewing' in Washington from the anti-gun 'wacos', you really need to and e-mail your US Senators and Congressmen. Read these articles of what they will try to get passed in January:

http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons

and this also:

http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons

In this second article, the 'wicked witch of the west', Senator Feinstein of California will introduce a bill that will:

'Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
Background check of owner and any transferee;
Type and serial number of the firearm;
Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration'

If you don't know how to e-mail our Louisiana US Senators and your district's US Representative, here are the links:

Louisiana US Senators:

Senator Vitter:

http://www.vitter.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Contact.ContactForm

Senator Landrieu:

http://www.landrieu.senate.gov/?p=contact

And how to contact your US Representative:

http://www.contactingthecongress.org/

AND, if you are not yet a member of the NRA, they need our full support. You can join NRA at:

http://home.nra.org/#/nraorg

We need to get involved folks.....we need to 'stop this train' before it gets on the track.

I'm not reading all that. We know the libs want to take our guns. We know they are going to try, but they know that a majority want guns legal. It will never pass.... In the near future.

E-mail Which I Sent to Senator Feinstein Today

Here's an e-mail which I sent to the 'Evil witch of the West', (aka California Senator Feinstein - guess what her ethenic background is?)

Senator Feinstein:

I have read your legislative proposals on gun control. I have only a few comment:
- You are playing with fire
- Do you want to start another 'Civil War' over the 2nd Amendment to our US Constitution??

Gun control will NOT prevent an incident like happened in Connecticut. That State has on the books some of the toughest gun control laws of any State, and yet the Sandy Brook tragedy still happened.

Switzerland requires that each family own a weapon and they provide annual training in use of the weapon. The murder rate by guns in that Country is ZERO! If you take away guns, criminals that are bent on doing harm to others will find another tool to commit the crime.

Are you aware that on the same day that the Sandy Brook tragedy ocurred, a 'waco' in China entered a school and stabbed to death a dozen students with a knife? So, do you take away all knives also? What if a criminal drowns a victim in a bath tub, do you ban bathtubs? Guns don't kill people, people kill people. There are way more deaths daily on our highways be vehicular accidents, so, should we ban cars?

If you seriously analyze the cause of these mass murder tragedies, you see that the criminals were either deranged, mentally unstable, on drugs or bullied or isolated by their peers. Look at the shooter at the Sandy Brook school. He had a serious mental problem and his mother was seeking court approval to have him put into an institution. When he learned that, he snapped and took it out on his mother by stealing her legally owned guns, killed her and the children which he felt she love more than him as she was a substitute teacher at that school. His mother LEGALLY owned the guns!

Be reasonable Senator.......even if you do what you propose, do you really believe criminals will give up their weapons? If you do, I suggest you are living in 'fairy land'!

Respectfully,
Alton Landry

Curious to see if she replies.

'Pete'

Thank you for clarifying Switzerland, they actually require each home to possess a FULLY automatic weapon and certification annually. Those basket-weavers in Washington don't know what its like living outside a gated community, or traveling without body guards, or having paid armed security guards in their neighborhoods. It's pathetic, our state is one of few states that have the right to amend the laws passed by Washington, Texas is another.

so

so since no one in china died, its ok, right? since guns were to protect us from a tyranical government,a nd the government doesnt want to control our lives.
of course they want us to register our guns so they have a count of who owns guns so it will be easier to take them away.

I Stand Corrected 'Vermont'

Mr 'Vermont', I stand corrected....no children were killed in the China incident, but many were maimed with fingers and ears cut off. I just found the article......here is the link:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2248054/China-stabbing-22-children-elderly-woman-stabbed-outside-primary-school-Chinese-knifeman.html

But, you seem to miss the point I was making. Even if you take away guns, criminals with the intent to do bad things will find other weapons with which to do it.

The 'Sandy Brook' was a typo. Cut me a little slack, will you?

Vermont:

I deleted/edited several comments, yours and from other users. They had nothing to do with the subject or content of the original post. They were personal attacks between posters.

While we are doing definitions, note that this is a PRIVATELY owned forum. That means that the owners make up the rules and the guests that are allowed to use it must follow the rules.

The moderators' job is to enforce the rules.

I strongly disagree with most of what you post, but it is allowed to stay as long as it is within the rules.

No power trip here, or 'board nazi' -there you go again! I'm just keeping the discussion civil and on point.

FYI: several posters have been banned from the site for constantly posting personal attacks, inciting trouble, vulgarity, etc. None of that will be allowed.

Forfeiture of firearms upon death

According to a Dec. 27th posting on Sen. Feinstein’s website and a draft of the bill obtained by NRA-ILA, the new ban would, among other things, adopt new definitions of “assault weapon” that would affect a much larger variety of firearms, require current owners of such firearms to register them with the federal government under the National Firearms Act, and require forfeiture of the firearms upon the deaths of their current owners........
Self-defense is a fundamental right.

Butch...you right at a point...but we seen a 65 y/o pass away and his 'dopey' teenage grandson 'raided' his gun cabinet the next day...the surviving non-hunting Grandmother should have the option to sell to said goverment at a market value or a tax credit from the said goverment...what the said goverment is trying to do is actually 'collective stealing' from private-estate property without paying and with nothing else being 'said' ??? cheers

Magazine ban

The ban on high capacity magazines will be just as useless as a gun ban. It's 'feel good' legislation that will do absolutely nothing to stop the criminal procurement and use of guns.

You ban guys have been the greatest salesmen ever though. Keep it up! Brownells reported selling THREE AND ONE HALF Y E A R S worth of high capacity magazines in just three days. Additionally, guns sales are going through the roof. Thanks!

The ONLY solution is the strict and swift application of capital punishment for murder, etc and strict, minimum-mandatory sentences without the benefit of probation/parole for the illegal use and/or possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and certain misdemeanors. This additional sentencing also must be served consecutively along with the sentence for the actual crime committed.

Getting tough on guns, magazines and law-abiding citizens is useless. It's the criminals that need to be dealt with.

Does it really make a difference

Lets say all those proposed laws were already in place. Would it of changed anything? The kids mom would of still been able to acquire the guns she had. She would of just had to do more paperwork and spent more money.
Would having ten round clips stopped the VA murders? No. Would it of slowed him down enough for someone to stop him? Maybe, maybe not.
What about Columbine. The weapons used were a pump shotgun, a double barrel shotgun, Hi-Point model 995 carbine rifle(not an assault rifle and only holds ten rounds), and Tech-9(scary looking 9mm pistol). The shooter with the Tech 9(high capacity magazines) only fired 55 shots while the shooter with the 10 shot carbine fired 96. So no it would of made no difference.

What about the school shootings in Jonesboro?
'Police seized 10 hunting rifles following the shootings, in which students and teachers streaming out of the school were met with rapid bursts of gunfire from the camouflage-clad boys' hidden in a nearby woods. But contrary to earlier police reports, Gary Etter of the Craighead County Sheriff's Department said no assault weapons were found.' Nope, no assault rifles there.

Red Lake Massacre-Weise got a .22 caliber pistol from his bedroom, and fatally shot his grandfather as he was sleeping; he shot him two times in the head and ten times in the chest. According to Weise's friends, the teenager may have had the gun for as long as a year. He took Lussier's two police-issue weapons, a .40 caliber Glock 23 pistol and a Remington 870 12 gauge pump-action shotgun. He shot and killed seven people at the school, beginning with an unarmed security guard at the entrance, and wounded five others. The dead included a teacher and four students. Weise exchanged gunfire with police who quickly arrived at the school; after being wounded, he committed suicide in a vacant classroom.- No assault rifles not sure if he had high capacity mags.
Gunman Patrick Purdy, opened fire with an AK 47 assault rifle on the playground of Cleveland Elementry School in Stockton, Calif., on Jan. 17, 1989. Five school children were killed and 30 others injured before Purdy took his own life. If he would of had a shotgun, rifle or pistol would it of made any difference? Maybe but I doubt it.

How would these laws stopped any of the tragedies that already have occurred? How will they stop any future tragedies?

Oops

Forgot about the movie theater shooting. If the laws had been in affect the movie theater shooting might of resulted in less deaths and injuries but only if someone would of stopped the shooter faster than he could reload 10 round magazines. Assuming he would of not acquired them illegally.

Yep me again

Lets look at the North Hollywood shootout. The North Hollywood shootout was an armed confrontation between two heavily armed and armored bank robbers and officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in the North Hollywood district of Los Angeles on February 28, 1997. Both robbers were killed, eleven police officers and seven civilians were injured, and numerous vehicles and other property were damaged or destroyed by the nearly 2,000 rounds of ammunition fired by the robbers and the police. So two guys with FULLY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS(illegal) and high capacity magazines killed 0 people. That’s because real life is not like the movies. High capacity mags and full auto does not mean more people killed. Well aimed shots kill people not spraying loads of rounds down range.

I don't know where you get your figures from but in 2009 there were 4.9 million citizens in Switzerland. Reguardless of what you say, facts are they have a 'weapon in every household' view on firearms. That proves the crime rate with firearms is FAR less that America per capita.

Instead of getting rid of high capacity mags, rifles, firearms, how about tightening down on the background checks, include family members, something.

The only reason why a government tries to control guns, is because its scared of its citizens and what may happen if they make the wrong choices for its citizens. It's also to keep a tyrant out of office, EXAMPLE: OBAMA!

Knives next?

You guys using the 'what next knives?' as a bad joke punch line better do some research. Yes, in the UK you cannot carry a knife. they have banned knives because that was the preferred weapon after they gave up their guns.

I completely agree with this gun ban, which is why I am hosting a gun buy back. I will pay the $200 for any functional 'assault weapon'. The same price they are paying in LA and New York, but I will give cash, not grocery cards. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. You can contact me by email via this site.

Banning Guns DO NOT STOP Massacres

Here's a very interesting article from a Professor of Law at George Mason University who has studied the results of gun bans in Great Britain and Australia. I think you will find the results very interesting, and DO NOT provide support for a gun ban in the U.S.

Get real

@ Switz Hahahahahahhahahaha really? You will buy our assault weapons that are about to be extremely valuable for 200? Get a clue. Have you even read the legislation? The 'assault weapons' already in circulations will be grandfathered. Please do some research before you come on here posting nonsense. Why does it seem like antigun people rarely have there facts straight?

'Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
Background check of owner and any transferee;
registration.'

You can still transfer the weapon to another party. In other words you can sell it. And you will be able to sell it for top dollar.

I just don't want these assault rifles to fall into the hands of criminals. So I will buy every assault rifle for the same $200 or more depending on the type.

So instead of paying the $200 per weapon you are suggesting people sell you theirs for $200...

If you don't think your hunting rifles are next read this

UK considering banning long kitchen knives.
'A&E doctors are calling for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives to reduce deaths from stabbing. A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase - and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings. They argued many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon. The research is published in the British Medical Journal. The researchers said there was no reason for long pointed knives to be publicly available at all.'
Full story http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4581871.stm
So when people start using short kitchen knives will they ban those? What about using a stick? Will they chop down all the trees?

I just notice this BBC article is 7 years old. But you get my point.

Another BBC article

'The recorded crime figures, for the last three months of 2004, show firearms crimes rose 10%, mainly due to a rise in the use of imitation firearms...Labour is planning to introduce a Violent Crime Reduction Bill if re-elected. A big aspect of the bill will be action against knives and a possible ban on replica firearms, something previously believed to be impractical.'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/vote_2005/frontpage/4467569.stm

Also 7 years old. My point is banning any type of gun does not stop people from killing people. Doesn't seem to me that banning guns in the UK has solved anything.

FYI

Switz was sarcastically referring to the government gun buy-back programs recently in the news. There, the govenment buys back any guns, no questions asked. Supposedly, the guns are then destroyed. In Los Angeles recently they were giving $200 grocery cards for any firearms brought in. No records or questions asked. Of course this includes many non operative guns, stolen guns, etc.

He was being sarcastic stating that he would pay cash instead. Of course this isn't advised as a private citizen because you would likely get in a bunch of trouble for buying stolen guns, guns with mo serial numbers, etc.

What's Missing

Someone sent me this information in an e-mail and I feel it hits home on this very topic.

Columbine victim's father- 13 years later !!

Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm? On Thursday, Darrell
Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School
shootings in Littleton , Colorado , was invited to address the House
Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders
during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.

They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It
needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every
sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These
courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and
deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying
in the wilderness.. The following is a portion of the transcript:

' Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts
of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of
violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the
deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must
not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

'The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out
in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA,
the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for
the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.

'In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how
quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a
member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here
to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are
responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they
need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's
murder I would be their strongest opponent.

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a
spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame
lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies
behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just
four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question 'Why?'
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

' Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and
spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create
a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc.
Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of
our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological
seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation?
We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred
and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs
-- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They
immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that continue to erode away
our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws.
Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of
gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre.
The real villain lies within our own hearts.

'As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two

every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on
April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our

Gun Bans

Thanks Pete for the links for contacting our senators. I totally agree that something has to be done to stop senseless violence against innocent people. However, even if the government did place a ban on weapons and tried to 'take away' the guns of Americans, they would not succeed. I am a law-abiding citizen and purchased every weapon legally. I will never surrender my weapons to a gov't that I do not trust. I will not sell a $1,200 weapon for $200. My weapons will be used for hunting and target shooting...and for self-protection if the need arises.
The gov't and people with similar views to Vermont have failed to recognize that guns are not the problem. Why not inforce the current laws on the books? Why not increase funding for mental health facilities? Why not open federally funded substance abuse treatment programs? Why not spend tax-payer dollars to protect the people paying the taxes. Anyone who believes for one second that criminals will abide by stricter gun laws or current gun laws is clearly not thinking rationally!
In all honesty, I fear my government more than I fear crazy people on the street. At least I know I have a weapon and know how to use it. I have a true respect for life and wish that these conversations didn't even need to be had. It's a different nation now. I encourage every sportsman to contact their senators and congress with their concerns. In the meantime, be responsible and be safe. We have the strength and power to take back our nation. I was taught that if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything! I'm standing on my constitutional rights as a law-abiding citizen! God Bless America!

i agree with u 100%, but u and most of us have logic and common sense and want to do what is right, unlike the people(politicians) who represent us!!! its all about politics, politics, politics, (money in their pockets), period, not what is right, no common sense involved in their decision making!!! they just dont care about us, just their political future only, lets just face the truth!!!!!! i'll vote for this, if u vote for that and i'll vote for this if u vote for that, money, money, money, always was and always will be!!!! sad but true!!! how can we change that, great question!!!! by voting, absolutly not!!! when someone is elected to congress, some have a few bucks, but when they finally leave, retire, how come they are multi-millionaires, not because of their salaries for sure, maybe its the money under the table???? i'm sure i'm wrong, how stupid of me!!!!remember the late great(???????) ted kennedy, introduced a bill saying that they, congress would stay with their super dooper golden medical insurance plan, and will not be on obama care and amazingly, some kind of way it passed and became law, go figure?? i aint fell off no turnip truck!!! its good for us, but not for them??? same ole, same ole, just like usual!!!! things will never change!!! lets quit making excuses for all these idiots, republicans and democrats alike!!! i'm sick and tired of all of them!!! we need some real honest americans in congress who actually care about this country and we the people!!

WOW! I didn't mean to 'unleash' all this?

I've been in Atlanta since last Sunday, spending some quality time over the New Years days with my two sons and their families who live there. SO, I haven't had much time to read Sportsman since last Sunday. Got back today, and am 'AMAZED' that the thread has gone 'viral'! And, the bickering back and forth is certainly NOT what I had planned, but rather just to make all readers aware of 'what is brewing in Washington' by the gun ban 'wacos'!

The two best things we can all do to lower the liklehood of success by the liberal gun 'banners' are:

1. Join the NRA if you are not a member. They are the most powerful lobby group in the Country for gun freedom. I read an article on-line a few days ago that said NRA is signing up over 8,000 NEW members per day. They need our support and $$$ to lobby Senators and Congressmen on our behalf.

2. E-mail your US Senators and Representative and let them know your position. It doesn't hurt to e-mail them more than once also. I've already done 3 times and plan to do again.

And, by all means guys, let's please keep the discussion clean and not 'throw poison arrows' at each other.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

It's Getting Out of Control

If you don't think the gun control 'wacos' are not getting 'totally out of control', read this:

http://godfatherpolitics.com/8808/peace-loving-columnist-says-kill-gun-owners-if-necessary-and-drag-legislators-behind-pickup-trucks/

And, the ultra liberal 'wicked witch of the west', Feinstein now says her true intent is to 'Disarm ALL Americans':

http://visiontoamerica.com/13466/dianne-feinstein-confesses-her-goal-is-to-disarm-all-americans/

And, if you this isn't BAD ENOUGH, read what Senate leader Harry Reid is planning:

http://gunowners.org/a01022013.htm

This Reid strategy is particularly troublesome!!

We REALLY need to stay on top of all this......I too have said I thought disarming Americans could never happen, but, I never thought we'd have a Muslim President either???

Letter to Senator Feinstein from a Marine

I don't know how many of you have read the letter to California Senator Feinstein, who is spear heading an effort in the US Senate to ban guns. It if from a Marine named Joshua Boston and titled 'No ma'am'. Here's his letter:

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime.

You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.
I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston
Cpl, United States Marine Corps
2004-2012

And, I would guess that's how the vast majority of gun owners feel also.

Seems Like Gun Training for Teachers is Catching On

At least two more States are offering free gun training for teachers. Now, Texas and Ohio are doing this (sorry - was going to post first 2 paragraphs, then the link, but it would not allow me to post the link):

Teachers In Ohio, Texas Flock To Free Gun Training Classes

By KIM PALMER and JIM FORSYTH, Reuters
January 8, 2013

School teachers in Texas and Ohio are flocking to free firearms classes in the wake of the Connecticut elementary school massacre, some vowing to protect their students with guns even at the risk of losing their jobs.

In Ohio, more than 900 teachers, administrators and school employees asked to take part in the Buckeye Firearms Association's newly created, three-day gun training program, the association said.

In Texas, an $85 Concealed Handgun License (CHL) course offered at no cost to teachers filled 400 spots immediately, forcing the school to offer another class, one instructor said.

'Any teacher who is licensed and chooses to be armed should be able to be armed,' said Gerald Valentino, co-founder of the Buckeye Firearms Association. 'It should be every teacher's choice.'
The Dec. 14 tragedy in Newtown, Conn., sparked a national debate about whether to arm teachers, prompting passionate arguments on both sides.

The deaths of 6- and 7-year-old school children led President Barack Obama to promise 'meaningful action' to curtail gun violence, while the National Rifle Association has advocated arming teachers and placing trained guards in each of the country's 100,000 schools.

Ohio and Texas are not the first to offer no-cost arms training to teachers. Just days after the Connecticut mass murder, some 200 teachers in Utah underwent free instruction from gun activists.

Critics ridicule arming teachers as a foolhardy idea promoted by overzealous gun enthusiasts, saying it would only add danger to the classroom while distracting teachers from their job of educating children.

Supporters say an armed teacher could have stopped the massacre at Sandy Hook, where a 20-year-old man armed with a military-style assault rifle killed 20 children and six adults before killing himself.

'What we know is that these spree killers are looking for the highest death toll possible. They look for no-gun zones like schools,' Valentino said. 'It doesn't make sense that we guard our gold with guns and we guard our kids with hope.'

The Buckeye Firearms Association, which successfully lobbied for 2004 legislation allowing people to carry concealed handguns, is offering all eligible state educators free admission to what it calls 'an intensive three-day class where you will learn many of the same skills and tactics used by first responders.'

Of the more than 900 applicants so far, 73 percent were teachers and 10 percent were kindergarten teachers, Valentino said. Sixty percent were male and 51 percent worked in high schools, he said.

Guns And The Law

Ohio law does not expressly prohibit guns in schools and leaves it to each individual school board to set policy. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine referred to teachers as 'first responders' after the Connecticut shootings and announced his office would expand safety training for Ohio school employees.

Texas state law allows teachers who have concealed handgun permits to carry weapons into public school classrooms as long as they have permission from the district superintendent.

Measures introduced in the Texas legislature since the Sandy Hook shooting would make it easier to carry firearms onto college campuses and into schools and other public places where weapons are now banned.

Josh Felker, who teaches the firearms classes in suburban San Antonio, said many of the teachers have told him they plan to carry weapons into their classrooms, even at risk of losing their jobs.

'They are upset at what happened, and no one is going to hurt their kids,' said Felker, who offered the class to teachers for free over the holiday break. 'One teacher said flat out, 'I don't care if the law changes or not, I'm going to take it to school.' Most of them just want to protect their kids.'

On Thursday, the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy will offer its first 'Active Shooter Training Response for Educators Course,' which up to now has been reserved for police officers.

One Texas superintendent who since 2008 has given permission to teachers with handgun licenses to carry a gun in school is David Thweatt, who heads the rural Harrold Independent School District, about 175 miles (280 km) northwest of Dallas.

'First they have to have a concealed handgun license, they have to be approved to carry on our campus, they have to undergo additional training, and they are limited to ammunition which breaks apart when it hits a hard object,' Thweatt said.

He said he decided to allow teachers to carry weapons in class because in his rural district 'law enforcement would never make it here on time' in case of an emergency.

Although the names of teachers who carry weapons were meant to remain confidential, their identities were widely known in town, Thweatt said.

Valentino was adamant that Ohio's armed teachers remain anonymous, citing concerns that local media might reveal who was taking the course.

'The idea is for no one to know what teachers might be carrying. It would be very dangerous to identify these teachers. We don't want to put a target on them,' Valentino said.

Texas Republican State Rep. Debbie Riddle has introduced a measure to require school boards and superintendents to give permission to teachers who have completed the concealed handgun licensing course to carry weapons into the classroom.

'It would have a chilling effect on any copycats who wanted to replicate what was done at Sandy Hook,' Riddle said.

NRA Quits Working with Obama

After NRA's meeting with VP Biden today re their pursuit of gun control, NRA reported this:

'The National Rifle Association issued a less than encouraging statement after meeting with Vice President Joe Biden for a roundtable discussion on new measures that the federal government might take to limit future gun deaths and mass shootings. The NRA’s tersely worded statement attacked the motivation behind the White House’s summit and expressed “disappointment” in the Obama administration’s “agenda to attack the Second Amendment.”

Obama's Position on Gun Control When He Was a US Senator

If you would like to know Obummer's position on gun control, read this from when he was a Senator from Illinois:

'Obama Opposed Gun Ban Exception to Defend One’s Home'

by KEITH KOFFLER on JANUARY 11, 2013, 9:58 AM

As a state senator in Illinois, President Obama opposed legislation providing an exception to handgun restrictions if the weapon was used in the defense of one’s home. Obama’s vote would have maintained the status quo, which made it a violation of municipal gun ban law to use a firearm to save your own life in your own home. But the bill was passed anyway without his support. The vote is a sign of how committed Obama may be to strict gun control measures.

Read the full article here: http://www.whitehousedossier.com/2013/01/11/obama-opposed-gun-ban-exception-defend-home/

So, after reading this article, do you really believe he'll only want to ban 'assault' weapons? This would only be the '1st Step' '

'The Second War on Independence Has Been Declared'

Folks, I URGE you to read this article:

'There is a sickening aroma in the air that is beginning to permeate the very soul of independent freedom embracing Americans. It began to originate long before the shooting at Aurora, Colorado, or recently in Newtown, Connecticut. Its rancid fragrance seeps into the fabric of the U.S. Constitution and is emitted by the control terrorists who manipulate the facts and perceptions of Americans who watch the news. These purveyors of stricter gun control measures seek to erode your defenses so that in your weakened state you will accept their sweet smelling tyranny'.

Read the full article here:

http://freedomoutpost.com/2013/01/the-second-war-of-independence-has-been-declared/

Americans are scared! The NRA is signing up over 8,000 new members per day. All hunters, gun collectors, target shooters and gun owners have been buying up guns and ammunition in such quantities that any store that sells guns and ammo is our and can't get restocked fast enough.

In an earlier post, I listed how to e-mail your US Senators and Congressmen. I URGE you to e-mail and call them every day until their mailboxes are overflowing and let them know that their re-election depends on their refusal to support ANY gun or ammunition control measures. The time is NOW! Obama will be ready to make his move before the end of the month!
