First Deer-12 point 180 pound 158 2/8 inch

My brother and I went hunting at his camp in Vernon Parish. It was 12/7/12 Friday morning he dropped me off at stand around 550 he then left to drive to his stand. It was really foggy that morning, around 7:10 right when you could start making things out in the early morning fog, I looked left at the feeder which we had fed the afternoon before then looked right there i saw it, a silouette of a big buck standing up on a hill he was looking down then looked up it was then i realized he was massive. I had already picked up my 270 and had him in my scope and shot. I hit him right behind the front right shoulder it was a lung shot!! He was 100 yards away. I tried calling my brother the share my excitement of my first deer!! I hopped out the stand maybe only hitting about two steps to go look for blood and trail him. I walked into the woods about 50 yards and there he was laying next to a tree. I drug him out the woods and waited for my brother to come. We loaded him up in the truck and brought him back to the camp, lifted him up and weighed him. He was a 12 point weighing 180 pounds!! We skinned him and everyone at the camp was congradulating me telling me he was a really big buck that i was lucky to kill one that big he was a trophy mount. We brought him to get mounted he was measured and measured in at 158 2/8!!!!! I am pumped this is my first deer!!! I'm defiantly hooked.

Congrats

Congrats on your first deer. You may want to have the deer rescored though, that is not a 150' deer. Not taking away from you at all because I would be proud to shoot it any day of the week but its closer to 140-145 tops. Nice kill man.

same as above

Congrats as well, it is an extremely nice first deer and first buck. BUT it is not even close to 158 inches. I have a 12pt thats much wider, taller and heavier and it only scores 132.

Nice Buck!!

This is a really nice buck! Congrats on your first kill! Definate mount. And i totally disagree with above comments. I wasn't aware you can score a deer by looking at a picture like the pros above can! From what i know about scoring it looks about right defiantly in the 150. What they are forgetting is the mass of the horns. And look how long the tines are. I do know that a deer is not scored on how much it weighs!!! haha. Don't let people hate on you this a beautiful buck especially for your first kill!!! I'm pretty sure you had it scored by someone and didn't come up with a random number. Once again congradulations on this buck!

SCORE

I'm not a 'pro' but I have scored several deer and he is what i came up with:

NUMBER OF POINTS ON EACH ANTLER: 6+6= 12

TIP TO TIP SPREAD: 10

GREATEST SPREAD: 16

INSIDE SPREAD OF MAIN BEAMS: 15 1/2

TOTAL LENGTHS OF ALL ABNORMAL POINTS: 2

LENGTH OF MAIN BEAM: 21+21= 42

LENGTH OF NORMAL POINTS:

G1: 5+5= 10

G2: 7+7= 14

G3: 8+8= 16

G4: 4+4= 8

G5: 1+0= 1

CIRCUMFERENCES:

H1: 5.5+5.5= 11

H2: 4+4= 8

H3: 4+4= 8

H4: 4+4= 8

Number of Points: 12

Greatest Spread: 16

Total Deductions: 3'

Final Score: 138 5/8'

I'm not knocking on anything, it is a very nice deer that I would be glad to shoot but I think the score was off. Congrats again, it will look nice on the wall.
