Which river is the River exactly ? I caught quite a few in Colyell bay (right off the amite), so they were definitely biting !!

Helluva catch. Would you mind sharing what you were using for bait. I set out limb lines and jugs on the bayou where my camp is. We use cut shad but never seem to catch any flatheads. I know they are in there. Heard live bait works best. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!!

The bait we used were goldfish. Flatheads will only eat live prey. You may get lucky every once and a while with cut shad but their main diet consists of live prey. you also need something tough that wont die after being put on the hook.

Careful using goldfish. Be sure to check fishing regulations first. Same is true for bream...a game fish. Be sure to check fishing regulations. Nothing ruins an otherwise successful fishing trip than ignorance of the law.

This topic was addressed last year i believe. it is legal in Alabama.

Not sure where this river is located, but it IS legal to use game fish as bait in Louisiana
