Well due to being in New York City all weekend i missed the opener down in dularge, but landed on Monday and headed straight down to the camp. Me and a few friends headed down to Cocodrie to stay at our small camp on the side of the bayou to go hunting saturday morning. Woke up at 3 am and headed over to dularge for the first hunt of the year. Launched at Jug's at 4:45 am and made the long run to hunt north of Mud Lake. I had no idea Mud Lake was going to be so rough when we woke up that morning. Rode out there in a 15 foot xpress with a 25 mercury tiller handle and just about capsized the boat in the pitch black dark. There must have been 3 footers out there in the lake with that 30 mph wind coming out of the North all night. Got turned around in the lake for a good 30 minutes and got soaking wet but finally made it to the blind and set the decoys up and were ready to go just in time for visible shooting time. Had a pretty good hunt shooting some greys and teal even though we were set up about 100 yards away from a pond where they were pouring in. But i guess it just happens like that sometimes. Just about froze my butt of crossing the lake going back to the launch so we stopped a camp and some nice guys let me in and allowed me to warm up and get some coffee. Thanks again to ya'll if ya'll read this. I was extremely surprised to see how quick the water dropped in the morning. We were almost left high and dry but we made it out just in time. Lowest ive ever seen the water in Dularge before. Finally made it back to the launch before running out of gas but even after all the struggle and freezing of my body it was still a good time. Im very excited with the amount of ducks out there right now, hopefully they will stay a while
