Youth Hunt 2012

It is such a pleasure taking young ones hunting and seeing the excitment and joy they experience on the youth hunts. It was another successful youth hunt this year and a very special one for dad. I had a great time taking my 2 boys (10 & 7) and their 10 year old friend hunting and fishing this weekend. This was the first duck hunt for my son's friend and he killed a single teal that landed in the dekes with his first shot of the morning on Saturday. What a way to start duck hunting. This is also my 7 year old's first year hunting with a shotgun (the BB gun has been retired this year). After lots of practice with no success on Saturday he shot his first duck (a hen widgeon) on Sunday. 15 minutes later he shot a drake widgeon which will be mounted. I think I was more excited than he was when he knocked down this single drake widgeon that came into the dekes. Save our sport and heritage, take a kid hunting and fishing....

Saturday - The boys shot 9 ducks (5 grays, 1 widgeon and 3 gw teal)

Sunday - The boys shot 11 ducks (4 grays, 4 spoonies and 3 widgeon).

Any grass left in Venice?
Coot, always enjoy your posts about taking your son. Glad he has moved up to a shotgun from the bb gun. I know the area where you hunt the most and want to know if there is any grass left after Isaac? I don't see any visible grass in the photos, yet your gang still had action. In previous posts the background was always lush and grassy. Hope you have a good opener.
