L.H. Ladner has a line of top notch BMCs (Google it and check out his web site). Since he died his son has taken over his dogs. I owned one and he was game crazy. The main thing to remember about any cur breed is that they need a job. Make sure you give them one or they will make up their own. He is in Lumberton Mississippi.

I have had two Black Mouth Currs and they are great dogs. Both of mine were just pets but no doubt they could have been great hunting dogs if properly trained. My first one died at 1 year old from intestinal cancer but my second one is still with us at 13 years old.

We got ours from a breader named Buren Palmer. I have not talked to him in 13 years so I don't have a clue if he is still around. But I highly recommend getting a BMC. Great family dogs, VERY protective of their territory and WILL defend your home against criminals or stray animals.

By the way...

If you plan to do some hog dogging you won't find many breeds tougher than the BMC. Two examples: the father (stud)of the two I owned got too close to a 120 lb rottweiler and her puppies one day, the rott made the mistake of attacking and was dead in a matter of seconds.

Some people down the road had a mean Chow that would get loose and run through the neighborhood, and one day it came into our yard. There were a few other dogs in the yard too and so was I, but as soon as that Chow came running my Curr let loose and tore that Chow up. The Chow ended up dying two days later.

All that being said, I have never seen a BMC act first in any aggressive situation and NEVER seen one even growl at a human. Great dogs and get along great with other GOOD dogs but will defend themselves, you and your family at all costs.
