Freshwater Fishing in Lake Pontchartrain / Northshore in Southeast Louisiana

Bayou Liberty

We live on Bayou Liberty, north of Hwy 190. My son caught a 3# catfish but Mother made him throw it back. She is afraid of eating fish from this water. Anyone have any idea if the fish caught from Bayou Liberty are safe to eat? Personally, I wouldn't have thought twice about eating it but she is a bit paranoid.

If anyone is familiar with this bayou, please let us know if it is safe to eat the fish. Also, any suggestions on what else we can catch, use for bait or where to find fish in this bayou would be greatly appreciated! We have a small bass boat and would like to simply fish up and down the bayou.

Thanks,

Bob, Bobby & Jonathan
