Dont believe the handful of guys i here on this site that are against the 2pm closure is enough to stop them LDWF from doing it. But you guys will be thankful in about three years when you have better duck hunting in the area because of it. Youll stop the late shooting and give you ducks the proper roosting time they need to build confidence to stay in the area throughout the season. Change is hard for hard headed people but for those with the fore-thought to make these changes should be commended.
The "TIDAL" hunting few thats left will conform as usual...and be thankful in the back of there minds but continue to biatch in the public eye.
More birds toward the end of the season than at the beginning. and they keep coming. Green heads, green wings, blue wings, canvasbacks, pintails, greys, they even had woodies down there. The Wax is where its at. If the ducks where so bad then why did it rank in the top 3 places to hunt in the state.
one of the biologist that did some of the surveys said that there where over 1,000,000. That is a million. Sounds like a lot of birds. Like you said we saw so many flights of canvas backs, one weekend we missed a lot of mallards, because we had to watch re careful not to shoot another canvas backs. We already had 3, but still shot a 3 man limit.
emails will do i' working on getting some info send me yall email addresses so i can stay in touch
old timer it not a fact of seeing more ducks its the fact of being able to get to them and hunt them with reasonable water i've been hunting this area for the past 20 yearsand last year i brought my 12 year old step daughter hunting for the 1 time we had to sit and wait for tide to come up but when we made to the flat she was estatic with all the birds she didnt kill but she begs everytime to go know. a great kid enjoying the great outdoors. your not only trying to take this from me but my three kids and my dog and you dont want to mess with them
You guys are fighting a lost cause. They gave us a second chance a couple or so years ago. We, collectively, blew it. We blew it when we continued to shoot ducks by moonlight. It was a second chance, but that's gone now. They're just going thru the motions now because they have to. They know all of the pros and cons from the last time around. Now they're dropping the hammer.
duckslayer it sound like you need to learn how to hunt if you have been in there 20 years and your still wating on the tide to move......get off your backside and do some better scouting. There's plenty of back water that they like at all different tide stages that you need to have you blinds located in for different tidal situations. Im all for a 2pm closure just like the majority of real hunters that care about the well being of the wildlife. Close IT
It's only over after the vote. If you are for keeping it open then fight it. Get a letter to me. My address is 14137 Glenn Ellis Rd, Walker LA 70785. IF they close it, they are going to lose revenue. People ain't going to hunt down there as much, it means fewer house boat permits, fewer boats at the landings for those who own those landings, and fewer dollars spent in Morgan City for their city. It's all about helping others, also known as SPORTSMEN
BUDDY Ro.....Ive learned over the years if you hit a man's nerve like you said I hit yours..it's always the truth nerve. Im not anyway concerned or care what you think. If you dont like it post back and cry me a river like you probably will. Its not gonna matter what you think... there probably gonna close it a 2p.m. cause people in the area have proven over the years they can't stop shooting at a resonable hour and misuse the natural resource. They are gonna have to learn to hunt like i said. SO buddy ro STFU
easy fellas. That's not what this is about. People hunt different ways. You may think you hunt hard, and i may think you don't. Who am i to say you don't hunt hard. I don't know all the things you do to prep. We are all individual hunters, and that's what make us US. So calm down. Like i said it's not over til it's over.
Floor guy, I have not expressed my opinion on this yet, but yesterdays post from you brought up a VERY good point.
You feel that if they close the season at 2 pm there will be less boats at the landings and fewer people hunting? As a "local" then I say great! Then I won't have to try to launch my boat when the landing is full of a bunch of yahoo's who don't even know how to back up a boat trailer.
On a serious note: I do hunt the Delta and yes the 2 pm closure will make it more difficult for some of the hunters, BUT it will make it better for the birds. And if something helps the ducks in the long run will help the hunters also.
Look at it this away, It would be a lot nicer for us hunters if the State would let us use airboats and 4 wheelers to hunt. And it would also be quicker to get a limit if we could bait ponds and use lead shot and guns with no plugs. But these rules (although they do restrict how we can hunt) are in place to help the ducks, which in turn really helps us hunters.
The 2 pm closure if passed will make it harder for some hunters in the short term, I can think of no bad affects on the duck population, which should be good for us hunters and our kids.
old timer is kind of like the old saying about the old man his son and walking down the hill towards the sheep. i do not build blinds i hunt natural cover and we average over 4 birds per hunter per hunt. sounds like you need the lessons i only charge a small fee. hey guys i am pretty sure this will not pass.see you at the meeting
buddy ro give me a call
the Wildlife and Fisheries Commission voted to assend the intent to pass the 2 pm closure on the adwma. great job everyone who helped hope to see you down there shooting them mallards. thanks for the help and its just a lesson for all of us that sticking to our guns always pays off
