In college i had many friends go to florida and cancun. I went to Browns Landing for the week. Always pulled a few off the rocks right before the telephone poles was where they would strike. I thought for sure I had a state record in 1999 but, I had foul hooked a 33 pound catfish in the tail in 17 ft of water. Talk about a fight!!!!!!

Where did you stay while your were there.. Does anyone know of any camp rentals or lodges in the area?

I wanted to stay at the state park cabins but they wer full.You need to make reservations months in advance to get one of them.I stayed in Ruston at the Holiday Inn Express which is about 40 mins away.TOO FREEK'EN FAR but it put us closer to Shrevport and the BASS PRO SHOP...hehehehe.I would also like to know if there is anywhere else to stay closer to the lake .

Caney lake Marina loacted at the spillway has cabins and also Browns landing on Hwy 4. These are portable building type cabins and not sure what all they have. Also there is a Best Western in Jonesboro which is about 12 miles away.

I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure Browns got rid of their trailers/cabins. I remember glancing over there when we were leaving the state park last year and didnt see them behind the parking lot where the used to be. We stayed in them several years and they were falling apart 10 years ago. As for the Jimmie Davis SP, the best thing to do is secure the cabin in January or February for that year. I booked two for the first week of June in February and they had 17 of the 18 available. You have to book and stay in the same calender year but after about the middle of Feb., they get hard to get....especially for the summer months.

Browns has one but it is being rented long term for now by a construction company. Its not the Best Western in Jonesboro anymore it is the Budget INN.
