Captain Bob’s Leeville Report

Hello again Cyber Anglers,

Fished out of Boudreaux’s in Leeville early last week and got into the lunkers in the East Access Canal again. A brisk north wind fought the incoming tide all day except for early morning. That brief period was when lunker bite happened.

Early that morning I headed straight for the fist big cut on the right in the East Access. I had left the Redfish biting there on last weeks episode(1530). The nervous water was rolling around the West Point and you could see fish working finger mullet around the piling. A big Goo Goo live Cocahoe free swimming under a cork disappeared immediately. At lines end a 7 1/2 pound Speck that I thought was a Red.

I grabbed the Chrome and blue she dog, the hooks rusted and dulled, the remaining paint scratched and worn. I walked it by the short piling when the surface exploded. The fish misses the bait and I stop the retrieve, second explosion, another miss, end of story.

I dashed to the livewell for another monster cocahoe and rebaited the cork line and as soon as it landed it disappeared. This time a fat 28 pound Bull. Some may be thinking fish story. But my stories are confirmed as again the camera was rolling.

See for yourself on episode 1531 now up on betweenthebanks.com and starting on TV venues Friday. In the meantime good luck fishing....Bob

PS Nothing at the islands yet

Is that the single piling in middle of the ship canal? Right next to some boats on the bank?
