Decided to try ole beloved Cane Bayou where I caught solid 2+ lb bass just a week ago and conditions could not have been any worse with extremely stained water and strong NE wind(not necessarily a problem)and I started chunking Yum Dinger,Swimming Dinger in black/blue with bullet weight, pegged on 12 lb Vanish fluro, perhaps my favorite set-up as the line invisible and virtually no stretch.Helped a fellow launch neat mudboat with about 9 hp mudmotor and also chatted with yak fisherman who was seeking reds.Made my way to Lake without a nibble and went into few trenasses kinda scouting around and on way back, hit trenasse and could see where hogs had recently rooted up and not long after seeing their rooted-up spot, heard and then saw four beautiful jet black hogs, perfect for grilling and these fellows can really swim, provably better than a Lab!!Kinda neat seeing them and will check regs for hog-hunting info as squirrel season still open and I know that Big Branch is archery-only for hogs and deer, just not sure if hogs legal after archery deer season closed.Decided to try Bayou Lacombe, outta Main Street and could see that the town of Lacombe gearing up for their Mardi Gras parade and I did see a few vehicles at Main Street.Water in Bayou Lacombe a tad cleaner than Cane Bayou and it did not take me too long to nab a nice Bayou Lacombe beauty, trouble was line was frayed and when I tried to hoist beauty into Chapman, doggone line broke, leaving me with nothing but the splash made by fine bass heading back to his/her lair near a boat dock that always seems to harbor chunks!!Headed to Ash Wednesday Mass in Abita tomorrow and probably gonna hit T-Funky outta 3 Rivers Launch and hope to find some chunky T-Funky bass and possibly some sac-au-lait!!!
