if i were a moderator i would warn both of you (motormouth & drew b) about trolling.
so jls is in your opinion over enthusiastic at times, so what? i think he posts a lot too but maybe he just spends more time on the forum then most or maybe he is just very opinionated.
you guys seam to have taken it upon yourselves to follow his posts simply to pick on him and there is no reason for it. please move on and find something else to do with your spare time other then to harrass other members.
every forum has some members who post a lot and sometimes they may seam like pointless posts but wannabe forum police are much more irritating and cause new members to refrain from joining in discussions so they arent subjected to yours and others possible harrasment

drew i know yall dont get along but i only saw jls retaliate nicely cause he was picked on. yall came out with the fat jokes and ugly boat and etc. not cool man, if you can dish be ready to receive. that being said I totally agree with keaker 100%, with all the veiws i see, i am suprised at the minimal amount of reports. I truly do think people are scared to get cretiqued.
guys, please read this and think about what i said but i hope you dont feel the need to reply to it and continue this further.
to jls - let it go, if you dont reply they will also let it go so why do you care about what they think. to argue on the internet in a forum or PM is like to argue with your dog, nothing is ever resolved. also it is very irritating if you delete posts, even if you no longer need the info it can sometimes help others avoid asking the same questions, please keep that in mind the next time you think about deleting some topic you created but now no longer care about.
to drew and the others who are irritated by jls - some of you do make good points that some things he does irritate you and while i agree a lot of what he posts such as his off topic posts in this thread might be better suited to PMs. its very obvious that no one on either side wants to let the other get the last word in this back and forth but to end this someone MUST be the last to comment and let the others last jab go unanswered so it must end somewhere by someone letting it go.
well this post has gone a hundred miles off course but its supposed to be a report on catfish lake public launch and it would be nice to return to THAT topic please.
im wanting to head down there but waiting for the grass to clear out a little more. i fear i could get trapped in my flatboat or overheat the motor with the grass clogging up the water intakes so i would be very greatfull if you could check on it this weekend and maybe post a new picture if its opened up any more.
catfish lake is like my second home and i miss it.
thank you for any info you can provide.
thats great news, with my flatboat and little 40hp i didnt want to be plowing thru grass. this aint my first rodeo and i didnt want to chance i might clog up the motor passages with grass and overheat. yeah i know its very easy to just plow thru but it only takes some bad luck to ruin your day.
i hope i can get out soon depending on the wind and rain, no better remedy for the hurricane blues
Kaekar after I burned a motor up like that I changed the p hole hose on the motor . Most motors come from
The factory with a small 3/32 hole for the water pump . That has caused a many of motor to burn up . I put a 1/4 inch argon hose on my motor . I still don't abuse my motor but you never know when that little small hose will get clogged .
Sorry Choupic, didn't mean it the way it sounded. I wouldn't continue to run that way. What I mean is boring out the p hole so it don't plug could reduce the flow of water through the motor. When water stops flowing from the hole it could just be a plugged hole which hurts nothing or it could be a plugged water intake or broke pump which is bad.
well the p hole is just letting excess water pressure out the hose where you can see it to confirm proper water pressure in the engine block.
making it ''slightly'' bigger ''shouldnt'' effect anything but it does reduce the pressure stream which can effect your ability to ''read'' the pressure being put out by your water pump. i set mine to shoot 90 degrees to the side so i see how far it streams and when it starts getting a shorter distance i know the impeller is getting worn and needs to be replaced.
to effect it the way capt was talking about you would have to make it large enough to reduce the water pressure which i would think would require you make it like 1/4 inch size or bigger and then it could have an effect.
on smaller motors i find the restriction is most often happening just at the plastic cap itself so i drill it just 1 drill bit size bigger and thats usually enough to let veggie matter slip thru and if it does clog its only temporary and a squeeze or two of the hose opens it up again. on bigger motors with just a hose hanging out i may put a bigger hose on it and drill the fitting in the block by 1 size larger but ONLY if its costantly getting clogged for no reason such as you are now plowing mud or grass
Ummmmmm not sure if this will help any of you that are worried bout Motor over heating. But I've seen ole timers use SSteel wire Thread in threw pix u[ holes to keep trash out when there in alot lillies Crawfishing or expoxy a SS Screem small Mesh to pix up area I just threw that out there Hope it Helps
You right about that jls .. People put a larger screen on there for the trash to pass through better , instead of clogging up . The motor I have now kept clogging up and over heating so I put a larger hose on the outlet and haven't had any problems since .
Some fish died around here and hoping that's all that it's going to be . The last big fish kill , it was chocked full of floaters . I'm only seeing a few so hopefully that's it .
Is this the launch behind Chick's? I used to launch there years ago. Has the parking lot been fixed? It was pretty rough thru there. I am coming down to fish on the 22nd. I wanted to get good info on where to lauch. What's the cost to launch at Golden Meadow launch?
Thanks.
@ Red16chaser
just as you are about to pass the end of the park you will see a shell gas station there, turn right onto the road beside it and you cross the little bridge over the drainage canal and on the left is the storage warehouse for the mardigrass parade floats and on the right is the boat launch parking lot.
you go over the levee to launch then park and walk back over the levee. its not as convienient as chicks used to be but the walk isnt that far to walk (few hundred yards) but on a hot august day it can seam like its a chore to walk to the truck lol.
when you come out of the launch take it easy because you need to do a little zig zag right then left to get into the long canal that brings you to the main canal feeding into the lake (you will see the little gas platforms).
the launch is roughly about a 1/2 mile before you get to where chicks used to be so you will pass right by the old canal you used to use for chicks.
i always use the middle or the far side to launch my boat, the very first slip is narrow and it has a lean or angle to it so your boat often loads a little crooked on that one. all the slips were rebuilt recently in the last year or two so they are all still in very good shape and still brand new
Glad to see ya Powered Back up Wes Headed to work Man 3 am suxs unless ya 'Gone Fishin' which i hope to be this weekend Somwheres
