Offshore Fishing in Louisiana
Boat
Hey guys I need some feed back after many
years of owning my own boat I have the urge to
get another one, like they say it's the ownership .
I have been on many charter trips with different
capts. And have learned a lot what I was doing
wrong ? But my question is I want a boat the is
not a gas guzzler easy for two people to Handel
I was looking at something in the 22-25 ft. Range
maybe with one big single motor or twins ? My
last boat was a big Robalo with the twin 225
motors and they were the carb model so you
know my gas usage was high 90-110 gals a trip !
I want a single big four stroke but the reliability of
it ? I had once a single 200 on a 20 ft hydra sport
I use to go to West Delta 117-133 all the time
but know i fish west delta 286-311-489 ,is that to
far for a single motor ?

You can go out that far with a single motor but it's nice just having the peace of mind of having a back up motor. You never know when something can go wrong. It seems when things do go wrong, its always when you are way offshore and not just right by the landing. I realize that you are looking for something that is fuel efficient, that is why you are leaning towards a single engine. I see you are looking at boats in the 22'-25' range. IMHO if I were you, I would look at getting a 25' Boat with either twin 150 Yamaha Four Strokes or Honda's. Talk about good on gas and most importantly Reliable. Hope this helps.
