THE CAPTAIN PAUL'S EDGE FILE WILL WORK IN A LOWRANCE GPS
~ Captain Paul's response to: ~ Tommy ~
Yes, it will work in a Lowrance system, but you should download the FREE Lowrance data transfer program they call GPS DATA MANAGER-6 (GDM-6).
The program allows you to enter waypoints, tracks and routes on your computer as well as import the same from other files such as the CAPTAIN PAUL’S FISHING EDGE OF GPS WAYPOINTS. It is available from the Lowrance web site at :
http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/GPS-Data-Manager-GDM/
It is a worth while program to have even if you don’t buy the Captain Paul’s Edge files.
To use the Edge file, you save the attachment to a file folder you’re your computer, then you open the downloaded GDM-6 program and then OPEN the Edge file from the location where you saved it. All of the Edge waypoints will appear in the GDM program. From there, you transfer the waypoints to a SPARE memory card which is then entered into your GPS unit. By then using the MENU feature in the GPS unit, you transfer the data from the card into the allotted waypoint memory of the GPS unit.
The Edge file comes with instructions, an Acrobat pdf file which is a general map of the selected area along with a description of the locations, and a spread sheet file again listing all of the Edge locations. I suggest that these files be printed and kept in a plastic bag aboard your boat.
