A couple of things come to mind. First, sad to see a beautiful buck go down like this, but this is nature, it happens everyday. Second, i wonder what the PETA people would say about this? In their mind humans are the only killers of animals.
Did the slide show or artical ever say how many yotes were in on the kill?
I read the article in this months edition of Deer and Deer Hunting. The guy is from North Texas and hunts timber company land in Oklahoma. He has around 100 photos of the action. The conclusion was that 4 coyotes were involved (photos not shown) and they had run the deer until he was worn down then they bayed him at the particular spot where the camerea was located. Pure luck that the camera was there. He found the skull with partial antlers and part of the spine still attached about 300 to 400 yards away from the kill location. Since the antlers were still in velvet, the tines were mostly consumed.
Bottom line....shoot every coyote you see even if it messes up a good day on a stand.
..........I can relate to these pics as I have experienced the butt attack method of the coyote , once down they eat a tunnel up the butt of thier prey would guess it's a good place to get a start ........... fall out the stand and get knocked out and you had better have on some tin draws ..........................
is your friend from texas and hunts in Oklahoma? if not its not his pictures. this is the link for the complete set of pictures.
