I use the corkscrew heads. I fine they hold on a lot better, fish after fish. Also I find they drag really well on shell bottoms.

Just try a bunch of different ones till you find one you like. Stay away from the ones made by La lead products I find they straighten out way too easy. When you find the right one , buy a bunch of them.

where would you get a jig head mold?

I bought the jighead mold frombass pro or cabellas...I forget. I had to modify the mold to fit my hook shank since it is thicker than the mold base.I have alot of lead that I have melted in my lee pot. I made like 500 weights one day when I was bored. I do like making my own jigheads and I have started powder coating them in white and chartreuse.

Were do you get your lead from? Some place that changes tires I presume?

I think you can get bar lead from home depot -- don't they use it in roofing?

I started using Do-It's Jig Head Molds, and they are the best. I use the poison tail mold, and even bought a melting pot. You can pour shots really quick. The best part about it, if your going fishing the next day, you can pour 20 jigheads the night before, and not worry about the hooks getting rusty etc... It was well worth the money, and fun to catch fish on jigs your made! Tight lines

P/S...might try a tiny 'O-ring' collar at the 1 1/2 ' mark between the lead barb and the head...

I would be using the lead for straight up sinkers. Sharks can cost you a small fortune when a single sinker cost over a dollar.

I get my lead from a number of sources. Wheel weight lead is softer than other types. As sinkers go I have over 1000 in stockage that I have made. I do like the do-it jighead molds but hooks arent long enough for me.

jw2e, i go out of my way to find long shanked jig heads, much...much better. is it one weight or can u make multiple weights?
