Inshore Fishing in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
My dog was lost in the marsh in Delacroix this afternoon, and we were not able to find her before dark. I am working on getting a plane to search in the morning, but would appreciate anyone who is going out in the am to keep a look out.

Waterfowl and Duck Hunting in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana

  • 5 redheads killed out of a flock of 7 that filled the limit. What a way to end the hunt!
  • The front of my Paw-Paw's Pirogue filling up with ducks.
  • Louis, Paul, and Aaron with the Day's Bag.
Sunday was another great hunt for me with regulars Louis, Aaron, and Paul. Their shooting was straight as we finished another 4 man limit of 24. Today the GW teal showed back up and made for the majority of the limit. The hunt was highlighted by killing 7 teal out of a flock of 12 and ending the hunt killing 5 of 7 redheads that made a pass on the decoys. The biggest advise I can share is to be....  Read More

I have always wanted a European deer mount but usually just cut the horns off and put them on a plaque. This year I began calling around and pricing the mounts. Most people range from 85$ - 125$. I said for that price I will saw the horns off, then I began searching and watching you tube videos on how to do this. EASY, no way but did I save 100$ absolutely!! It took me about 2 hours to remove....  Read More

  • 8 bucks, 4 days.
  • Two little guys fighting.
  • Making sure that hock smells just right.
I got invited as a fill-in for a Texas hunt. One of the members broke his arm and couldn't go.

We hunted their lease near Sonora Texas and the rut was full on. Lots of rubs, active scrapes and bucks of all sizes running does all around.

We were allowed two bucks and two does each and finished our tags in four days. Four guys, 16 deer in four days. Not too bad.

If that guy....  Read More

Deer Hunting in South Central Louisiana
Somebody informed me that if you are hunting private land in Louisiana you can shoot buck or doe all season and it does not have to be a doe day to shoot one. Is this true i would like to know before i just believe him. Thanks

  • Capt. Jack's Charter 12/21/2014
Today was another fun day of fishing at Sweetwater Marina in Delacroix. Capt Jack took Mark Deckert and two of his buddies out today. They ended the day with 60 Speckled Trout, all caught on Sweetwater live shrimp. Today they fished in Skippy Lake. Overall it was a pretty god day and a lot of people caught fish close. The weather should be even better for fishing tomorrow, we have plenty of....  Read More

Kayak Fishing in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
Photo Album
Working out of a canoe, and more recently a kayak that I traded my pirogue for, I've been returning over and over to the protected areas off of Lery. Last year, the grass was thick just about everywhere. Theres a lot less grass in the water than there was last year, but I've still found a wealth of bass and reds stacked up. Rotating thru gold spoon, spinner bait, and a red shad worm keeps them....  Read More

  • George, Luke, and Pat with Saturday limits
  • My group along. With Cousin Barry's group. Both blinds had 4 Man limits.
The second split opened with a great hunts with Fanny's Family Guide Service. I had regulars George, Luke, and Pat on Saturday and the ducks were flying. They killed limits of mostly greys with a few teal, 2 redheads and 2 Dogris added in. Our cross wind setup made for some good shot opportunities in tough shooting conditions in the strong wind. With some patience the greys commited and could....  Read More

Inshore Fishing in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
I just wanted to share this feel good story. We all have heard our share of fisherman storeis of rude fisherman, but this is not one. About 6 weeks ago I was fihsing in Delacroix when my lo engine oil light came on. What a rookie mistake, I know. Anyway, I must have flagged down 15 boats and all had 4 stroke engines and mine was a 2 stroke. Everyone I flagged down came to my aid and....  Read More

Have the fish moved back in around Skippy and oak river yet. Slammed them over turkey day weekend but a week ago only 3 trout and 30 bass. I am hoping to take some family (nices out) and was hoping the oak river slam was on again. Any insight on where the fish have moved is appreciated. God Bless and Merry Christams to you all and especially Captain Jack and the crew at Sweet Water.
