General in Southeast Louisiana
Hi there, I'm a fisherman from Wisconsin and was starting to plan a trip to Louisiana in January. I'm looking for a place to camp near Leeville, Golden Meadow, or Galliano. Every place that I've found so far is for RV 'camping', but I'm looking for locations where I can camp in a tent. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Inshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
Hello all! I will be taking my wife and 4yo little girl down to Cocodrie for the Memorial Day weekend. I am not new to Louisiana marsh fishing, but I will be brand new to Cocodrie. I chose this destination over some of my normal 'redfish' spots because I would like to put my little girl on a decent spec bite. I have been studying maps and have a grasp on the area as a whole. We will be in a....  Read More

I have a big group down from Knoxville, TN for 3 days of fishing. Yesterday was day one and Capts. Elton, TLuv, and Josh took care of the guys catching a few trout and some bull reds and drum. Today we had 3 boats out and banged up the slot reds pretty good. I had Bill Loyd, Dan the Man, and Chris and Parker Goodwin on board with a plan to target slot reds. The guys put in work first thing....  Read More

Day 2 with Coach Rodney Guin and crew had the trout coming in this morning on double rigged Matrix Shad. Slow retrieve over the oyster reefs with a little twitch of the rod tip. The guys had several doubles coming over the gunnels and plenty singles. Once our bite slowed, we made a move to another reef and it was fish on again. We had to weed through some small fish, but plenty solid 16 plus....  Read More

My wife and I went out this afternoon to fish a few bream and crappies on a private pond on a family member's land. All was good, she loves perch jerking and was having a great day catching bream after bream on crickets. Just earlier she had released a small bluegill and told me she thought a bass took a shot at it when she tossed it back in. Not long after that when her cork went under, she....  Read More

I helped Capt. Marty with Coach Rodney's crew Monday and Tuesday. The first day was supposed to be the most weather friendly so we headed south to the trout grounds. It didn't take long for the wind and waves to grow large enough for us to say no thanks. With a dozen trout on ice we headed north to battle the bulls. Whole cracked crab had the the big fish feeding and dragging some serious....  Read More

Inshore Fishing in Fourchon / Grand Isle in Southeast Louisiana
Hi there, I live up in Wisconsin and got my first taste of redfishing last winter, so I'm planning a trip to Grand Isle in January. I will be heading down with my boat ( 14 ft flatbottom) and will be camping at grand isle state park for a couple of weeks. This will be my first time in the area, and my first time fishing saltwater without a guide. I was curious if anyone could offer up any....  Read More

Nathan, Lloyd and I tried some new area this trip. Left out of BSM to try and find some trout. As we slid out into the bay we were greeted with some nice rollers as the wind was already blowing pretty good. We immediately began catching fish but i was too rough and we had to move to more protected waters. We bounced around drifting along points and current lines. We caught plenty of trout....  Read More

Deer Hunting in Vermilion Bay in South Central Louisiana

My son Alex Shivor got his first deer the week before Thanksgiving 2015 at our camp in ST. Mary parish. Thanks to Jessie Brumfield for a memorable hunt. Sorry it took so long to post it. It was made even better that his papa was there Cecil Shivor and got to witness it. He dropped this 160 lb. 9 point at 75 yards with Jessie's 6.8 mm AR. What made it funny was my dad and I was at the....  Read More

Had Scott a retired Marine Corp LtCol aviator Harrier Jump Jet pilot with me on Thursday along with his father-in-law Donnie. Things did not start off very well as we headed to Last Island due the breeze blowing pretty hard. Made it there and started soaking minnows under a cork. Fished a couple of hours and watched all the boats trying to find fish and we only came up with one keeper. Decided....  Read More

This Past Saturday we fished Little Lake and found some clear water in the Bay L'Ours area. We were using Gold Bladed spinner baits with black and chartreuse tail body. The Reds were holding tight to the grass beds and on points. There was a good breeze blowing which made it almost impossible to sight fish, so we were just doing a lot of fan casting over the grass beds and getting a steady bite....  Read More

We caught several today at the rock rows on the back of Grand Isle. They were small, 8 to 10 inches, but were definitely Mangroves. Anyone else ever see this? Also pogies were all over. I have never seen so many. At times you could see them popping the surface as far as you could see. Didn't know what they were at first but I threw the cast net and came up with a net full. Some were 6 to....  Read More

Coach Rodney Guin and crew are back with us for two days of fishing. The weather man had the forecast way off again today. We started off on a good run of trout on double rigged Matrix Shad, as they were busting shrimp all over the surface! We put a quick hit on them, before they quit. Unfortunately, the bite didn't last as long as we hoped and we were on the run. We picked away until the....  Read More
