Rabbit hunter allegedly a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, LDWF says

O’Neal booked into St. Landry Parish Jail this weekend

Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested a rabbit hunter in St. Landry Parish on Saturday for allegedly illegally possessing a firearm, according to a news release.

Timothy O’Neal, 61, of Big Cane, was arrested for illegally possessing a firearm by a convicted felon, the release states.

Acting on an anonymous tip, agents found O’Neal actively rabbit hunting. An investigation confirmed that O’Neal was not allowed to possess a firearm because he was a convicted felon, according to the release.

Illegally possessing a firearm by a convicted felon brings a $1,000 to $5,000 fine and 10 to 20 years in jail, the release states.
