Nicholls State angler falls short in College Classic Bracket semifinal match

Rivet weighs-in just two fish for 3 pounds, 9 ounces on Monday

Tyler Rivet came up just a little short.

The Nicholls University angler weighed in one fish shy of the three-fish limit Monday on the Wisconsin River to fall to Texas A&M’s reigning national champ Josh Bensema, who brought in three fish weighing 5 pounds, 6 ounces. Rivet weighed two fish for a total of 3 pounds, 9 ounces.

Tomorrow, Bensema will face Trevor Lo of the University of Minnesota with an invite to the 2016 Bassmaster Classic on the line for the winner, as well as a fully-rigged Toyota Tundra, a sponsor-provided bass boat, entry fees for all nine of the 201 Bassmaster Opens as well as $7,500 cash for expenses in the 2016 season.

The two remaining anglers will head out at 6 a.m. tomorrow from Bukolt Park, and will return at 2 for the final weigh-in.
