Hunting seasons to reopen on three WMAs flooded by recent heavy rains

LDWF lifts restrictions on Joyce, Manchac and Maurepas Swamp wildlife management areas

Hunting seasons on three wildlife management areas closed earlier this month due to high water levels will reopen tomorrow (Jan. 23), the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries announced today.

All hunting except waterfowl seasons on Joyce, Manchac and Maurepas Swamp WMAs was shut down Jan. 12 by LDWF after heavy rains flooded these public tracts of land.

The three WMAs contain acreage in parts of Ascension, Livingston, St. James, St. John the Baptist and Tangipahoa parishes, the agency said.
