Rains have swollen the Pearl River, pushing it to 16.5 feet at Pearl River. Hunting will not be allowed until the river drops below 16.5 feet, the LDWF said.
The gate at Old U.S.Hwy. 11, a primary access point to the WMA, will remain closed until the water recedes and all roads and bridges are determined safe for vehicle passage, the agency reported.
