Sherburne WMA alters shooting range hours

Hours shortened from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on four days over the next few weeks

Hours at the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area’s free shooting range will be shortened on four separate days in the coming weeks.

According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the range will be open only from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 25 and 26, as well as Dec. 2 and 3.

Normal range hours are from official sunrise to sunset each day, the release states.

The Sherburne WMA shooting range complex is located in Pointe Coupee Parish at 1132 Sherburne Road, 4 south of U.S. Highway 190 on La. Highway 975.

The shooting range provides for rifle and handgun target shooting at 25, 50 and 100 yards. Shotgun ranges offers manual target throwers and electric throwers.

An archery range provides stationary field targets, 3D targets and an elevated shooting platform.
