SC man arrested for guiding without a license, LDWF says

Illegal fishing trip allegedly occurred Thursday in St. Bernard Parish

Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested a South Carolina man Thursday for alleged charter fishing guide violations in St. Bernard Parish.

James Hough, 39, of Mount Pleasant, SC, was arrested for guiding a chartered fishing trip without a non-resident charter guide license, according to a press release.

Agents received complaints that Hough was guiding chartered trips without the proper license, and was posting on social media as the captain of Flat Spot Charters offering trips in the Delacroix area, the release states.

An investigation revealed Hough conducted a guided trip for profit on Thursday, and agents seized four redfish in the case and donated them to a local charity, the release states.

Conducting a guided chartered fishing trip without a charter guide license carries a fine of up to a $950 and 120 days in jail plus forfeiture of anything seized.  Hough was booked into the St. Bernard Parish Jail, according to the release.
