2002/2012 Contender Fisharound
Selling my 31 Fisharound. This has been a great boat and has never let us down offshore or inshore. Been through some fierce weather – not by choice. Can’t say enough about having XM Weather and a good radar. My five kids and I have caught practically everything you can in the Gulf of Mexico fishing out of Louisiana from speckled trout to tuna, sailfish and marlin. Live baiting, deep dropping, grouper bottom dragging, and trolling. We’ve made many overnight tuna and swordfish trips and routinely fish 100 miles offshore.
Reason for selling — I have 9 grandchildren under the age of 3. Have to wait a few years until they’re big enough to head offshore.
- Second owner (to the best of my knowledge)
- Boat has lived in the pictured enclosed stall since I purchased it in 2015. The boat stall is in Houma, LA
- Hull is a 2002 with the half tower on the boat when I purchased it.
- Half tower is the ticket for sight fishing for Cobia or grass mats offshore
- Gel coat dings were touched up 2022. Doesn’t match exactly.
- Original tanks – no issues thus far. Screwed down deck hatches can be removed. Deck hatches were resealed with 5200 about 3 years ago.
- Engines are 2012 Yamaha F300 XCA with approximately 975 hours each
- We have maintained these engines with regular oil changes, oil filter and fuel filter replacements about every 75 hours
- See the maintenance supplies in the pics
- Seastar steering replaced about 3 years ago. Custom-made stainless steel hydraulic steering lines.
- Lower units dropped and serviced (including impeller replacement) approximately every 100-150 hours
- Below decks
- Generator worked, although we haven’t used it in a while
- AC worked, although we haven’t used it in a while
- Built-in 3-battery charger
- Fire suppression system
- Inside the Cabin
- Lighting works
- Refrigerator spaced repurposed as tackle storage to hold Plano trays as shown in the pics. Works well – doesn’t fall out.
- Shower/Head used as storage (just like almost everyone uses the space). Never used the head – probably be better to just remove it and free up some space.
- Good space to take a weather break
- Main breaker panel is fully functional
- Topside
- Replaced the stock console seating station with a custom-made fish box/helm seating unit. Upholstery is good.
- Used foam like the shrimpers build their boxes with overlaid with fiberglass and then Awlgrip in Hatteras White.
- Lid and top is 3/4″ marine plywood and mahogany – also with Awlgrip.
- Cutting board and tackle rigging station also custom.
- BIG drain plug – you can wash this thing out without crawling up in it.
- Holds ice in the summer at least 5 days – cleaned the fish and there was still ice in it.
- Inside dimension is approximately 33 1/2″ tall x 34″ x 31 1/2″ or 621.5 quartz.
- Deck fish boxes are still usable. Short trips – we just use the floor boxes. Long trips – fill everything with 20# bags of ice. Or fill box halfway with bulk ice and 20# bags in the floor boxes. Very flexible way to manage ice and fish.
- Coaming (leaning) pads and front seating pad could use freshening up.
- Tower and related tubing superstructure
- Seat/backrest reupholstered about 4 years ago. Good shape
- Tower tubing in good shape.
- Tubing super structure that supports the hardtop cracked. Had it repaired and reinforcing gussets installed throughout by Sterlings in New Iberia. No issues since.
- Aluminum one-piece outriggers. Work and are fully rigged. Not used very often.
- Electronics
- Garmin GPS Map 4208 with dual band transducer and integrates with Radar and XM Weather. Came with the boat and works well.
- My saved waypoints are not coming with the boat.
- My saved waypoints are not coming with the boat.
- Garmin EchoMap SV installed by me. Used as GPS only. Can be used as Sonar/Fishfinder with installation of a transducer. Works well.
- Yamaha gauges work about the way you would expect. Tilt/Trim does not work. Fuel level sorta works on main tank. Fuel flow meter works well – this is what I use for fuel management. All other functions work.
- Auto Pilot was not hooked up when I bought the boat and I have never used it. I doubt if it is functional.
- Switches on rocker panel have all been replaced with Blue Seas Marine switches.
- ARC light works but there is a short somewhere that makes it intermittent.
- Garmin GPS Map 4208 with dual band transducer and integrates with Radar and XM Weather. Came with the boat and works well.
- Trailer
- Three-axle and two spares setup with bearing and hubs.
- Fresh tires – less than 200 miles
- Hydraulic brakes are not working. 2 new calipers on the shelf.
PRICE: $105,000 – No trades
