CCA STAR 2019 update

The CCA Louisiana STAR is in its 25th year of competition. Each year the tournament begins on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and lasts until Labor Day. STAR is CCA Louisiana’s largest membership drive and boasts over 13,000 participants each year. During the competition, anglers compete for over $500,000 in prizes.

STAR has many inshore and offshore divisions with great prizes up for grabs, but its signature division is definitely the Tagged Redfish Division. CCA releases 100 tagged redfish each year, and if you are in the tournament and catch one, you win!

In addition to all of the adult divisions, they also have a great youth division as well. New Tide Members (CCA members 17 or younger) are able to enter the tournament free of charge. Once they are registered, they can enter a trout and a flounder in four divisions across the Louisiana coast.

And once again this year, Louisiana Sportsman is sweetening the pot in the Tagged Redfish Division, offering a $10,000 bonus prize to the first STAR-registered angler who catches a tagged red and is also a current subscriber to the magazine. Family members and spouses must also be subscribers. (Anglers must have subscribed to Louisiana Sportsman at least 24 hours prior to catching any eligible tagged redfish to claim the bonus, so don’t put it off.
