When did it become ok to run right pass a floating camp? I have boats constantly run 25 feet from my camp wide open in Bayou Black. My kids are trying to fish perch while I'm working. Boat after boat pass like its nothing. Very disappointing.
I am thinking very hard about starting a guide service out of Morgan City. I will be doing bow fishing, frogging, fresh & saltwater fishing and duck hunting. I have 18yrs of experience operating boats of various sizes for a living in the oil field. I do not have a U.S.C.G. license. I would love to speak with a couple of you guys that have the personal experience, insurance etc.
Please help spread the word. The Atchafalaya Chapter of Delta Waterfowl is having our annual Froggin Tournament tonight. You can sign up early at Charlie's Pawn Shop in Morgan City. We will have additional sign up stations at Doiron's & Berwick Boat Landing from 6 to 8pm today. It is only $40 for the entry fee & you can have as many team members as you can fit in one boat. The weigh in will be tomorrow at Doiron's from Noon till 1pm.If you have any questions feel free to call Mike Hepler 985-518-7544 or Charlie Solar 985-518-6813
If you are not thinking about it yet you are not a duck hunter...............
I don't keep bass very often. I do fish all the local tourn around Morgan City. I'd rather see someone keep 5 knot heads under 14' than see a picture of a ice chest full of 3 pounders. Also I'd really like to see the mature spawning females caught in tourn not taken from the basin/marsh & let go somewhere else.
My 6yr old & I are looking through pictures of last year at our duck camp. We wanted to share our memories with you. Seth has been in a duck blind since 2. Last year he maned up to the 410 & and joined in on the fun.
Seth & Blake came home with 9 bluewings Saturday morning. These boys did a great job shooting. They would have had a limit easy but .410 steel shot is junk! They dusted birds at 20yrds to watch them fly off! Well I guess the coons got to eat too.
I visited the delta today. I feel I must inform fellow hunters that our world has changed. I started hunting the delta 18 years ago & feel like I know it just as good as anyone. The flood this year has changed the delta forever. I've been hunting with my ProDrive down there for 6 years. I will be buying a pirouge & chest waders TOMORROW. We will be hunting like the old days once again. As far as I'm concerned the hole darn thing is a restricted area now.
My father n law Jesse LeBlanc Caught this 8lb Monster somewhere south of Gibson. They also had a dozen other trout over 5lbs. I believe this one is headed to the taxidermist. This fish measured over 30'
Big Sacalait like Speed Craws. Ask my lil boy Seth.
Wish we still had a spring teal season. Just came from the lease and it is stupid with teal. I Wish they would still show up here in Sept like they do in April. Might have to make a hunt in the morning with the Nikon.

Last year I purchased a new Browning Gold 10ga. the fire pin will not strike the primmer hard enough to fire the shell sometimes. I can stick the same shell back in the gun and shoot it. I've shot several brands of shells and they all do the same thing. I called Browning they were no help what so ever. They said the gun was not lubricated. Trust me the gun is very clean and properly lubed. The gun was purchased from Lafayette Shooters. I don't know if they have a gun smith service or if there is someone around here that can fix it. I'm kind of mad about paying someone to fix a brand new $1500 gun. It will be the last new Browning I buy. I wish Berreta made a 10.
The sacalait are making a run with the falling water. Grassy Lake provided this fish fry.
I found a trained yellow lab in the Belle River area Friday morning. Call to claim (985)-518-7544
All in all had a great season. I did not miss a weekend. I can count on one hand the hunts I didn't limit. We killed birds when we put out the effort and didn't when we didn't. Nick Rock with the banded speck.
I was out there last week for 2 days and didn't see anything to fire me up. I burned 12 gallons of gas in my Prodrive. I've been talking to people east & west of us and they all say they have got birds so, whats up no one on here talking about it.
