For all those that told us that they were not getting run out of public waters . Here's about 25,000 or more acres that you can no longer fish.
I This AM put over at Chef and went to Bypass canal on East side and took 1st right. Went back to first right hand turn that leads to a pond that I sight fish. Tide was rolling out, water clarity good, started catching a few trout. Was in the process of moving a little closer to the area where the bite was and the game wardens were coming around the bend flagging me to stop. Well, I showed them all that they asked for and they seemed happy.
Then one of them asked me' where is your sticker, sir'? I said next to my registration numbers on both sides of the bow. He said 'not that one, but the one that gives you permission to be in this bayou'. Of course I said I've been fishing that marsh for 60 years and it's absurd that at my age that I need a sticker for permission. He immediately pointed to three signs that I payed no attention to when driving past. He went on to tell me that all of the marsh, ponds, and bayous from the ICW at Chef Pass to Lake Borgne almost all the way to the Rigolets has been purchased by someone and are starting to ticket those who trespass.'

Please
IF YOU ARE APPROACHED / STOPPED AND ASKED / TOLD TO LEAVE ANY WATERWAY. PLEASE PULL OUT YOUR CELL PHONE AND VIDEO AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!! Also if you can do so get a picture of the person the boat and numbers if possible and send me any video or pictures. I want to build a library of any confrontations and make a video that we can show the public to back up our claims. If you feel that it's not safe for you to video please don't put your self in danger .
Thank You , Bob

SB129 was heard in committee this morning. Ironically there were two people that testified in opposition to this bill. Capt. Daryl Carpenter on behalf the Sportsmans interest and Conoco Phillips' lobbyist / attorney. It is funny that the same group that wants to keep their water private have an issue with having to pay their neighboring waterway owners for accessing their well sites. At any rate, there were a couple of the Senators that showed a real interest in what was happening and I have to say that it looked like we almost defeated this bill. After a long hearing it eventually passed out of committee and will be going to the floor. Sen. Brett Allain agreed to work further with us to work out our concerns with this particular bill.
.
All of you duck hunters / fishermen, you Breton Sound / Delacroix folks, there has never been a financial incentive for these water owners to keep you from transversing their water to get to your leases or to get to the State owned water outside of their marsh. If this bill continues on its current track there will now be a financial incentive for these folks to put up Toll waterways.
.
If you don't get involved, don't bitch when it happens. There is a meeting of the Louisiana sportsmans coalition This wed. 4 / 26 in the BASS pro shops meeting room in denham springs @ 6:30 pm on this matter and on public waters intrest.
.
******* . The biggest thing that I noticed was that these lawmakers actually fell for and believe that being run off from our coastal marsh is a rarity that only occasionally happens. We need to figure out a digital way for each individual to report to these guys when they get run off of navigable water. Any computer savy folks have an app for that?

BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) -

Louisiana's health department has recalled oysters from one Cameron Parish harvest area and has closed it to shellfish harvesting because nine people got stomach illness after eating oysters gathered there.

The Department of Health and Hospitals order Friday recalls all oysters harvested in West Cove off of south Calcasieu Lake since Dec. 28, including shucked, frozen, breaded, post-harvest processed and oysters for the half shell market.

Department spokesman Ken Pastorick said the recall involved about 500 sacks of oysters and health officials were working to find out where they were distributed and pull them from sale. The closure is expected to last at least three weeks.

The department says nobody was ill enough to be hospitalized. It says they may have had norovirus, which causes vomiting and diarrhea.

Good Luck getting it into the legislature for a vote. We have been working for over a year to get enough legislatures on our side to get it to a vote. Yes we3 ask for people to give $20 to join . That money goes to lobbyist and attorneys to help .. Unlike many of the other groups LASC has no one that receives any pay. It is all on a volunteer basis.
As much as i appreciate the fishermen voting for the gill net ban ,they didn't get the bill on the docket for a vote. GCCA did.

Rick the only problem with using that map is a big disclaimer put on it by the state. They WILL NOT go to court and say that these are state waters.

If i remember right BASS brings in between 2 million and 3 million dollars with the tournaments they were holding here. 5 million if the classic is held in Louisiana. If you ask any of our federal politicians ,they tell you it's a states issue (and they are right). For the last couple of years we have been mailing , emailing and calling our state reps and senators ,the Lt. governor and the governor.. Yet when we catch one on a radio show or a place where we can ask questions they claim to know nothing about it. Things are happening, LASC members have been taking politicians and press out in the marsh and letting them see first hand the posted areas and illegal cables , trash piles and gates.
We need anyone who is confronted to video the confrontation ( only if you can safely do so.) Give us GPS coordinates So that we have more ammo when we go to the capitol .

Capt. JS . CCA has refused for years to take up the posted waters issue. I and others are members of Louisiana sportsman coalition. We are working with LSU and others to try to get the laws amended so that access can be granted to the public. These land owners that are posting the waters are in the pockets of the politicians. The head of the natural resources committee (any law changes have to go through this committee before they can be put up for a vote at the capitol) Is one of the big land owners who is posting waterways ( Can you say ,Conflict of interest???. )

FiFi island is the big island right out from sand dollar marina on the east end of the island. If it is behind the island that is straight out from the point where Cheramies and the Ice house used to be ,it really has no name, as that was part of the Chanier caminada at one time

Bayouboy2112,
That is one of the reasons i am asking people to take these videos, people are being threatened with weapons by agents of the landowners. So far, there has only been yelling and cursing . one guy tried to board the boat of someone he was trying to run out and got a fist to the mouth . It's getting worse and i am really afraid that someone is going to brandish a weapon at the wrong person and someone is going to get killed and someone else will be in prison.

If you look there are 3 - 5 lb packs of ends and pieces bacon. thicker odd cuts but a lot cheaper than sliced bacon.

Computer killed the courteous fishermen. In the day those that didn't have the time or the know how to find their own fish stayed home or went with someone who knew. Now they have more money and more leisure time . they buy a boat and read the internet to find an area. then they go out and pull up on any boat they see catch a fish. (usually not knowing anything about how to approach a fishing boat or area).
we did an experiment one day out behind grand isle. we pulled up on a point and were catching nothing but hard heads on sparkle beetles. before we got the 3rd fish in here comes a boat. screams up and starts throwing. catching hard heads here come 2 more boats. By the time it was over there were 8 boats around that point catching nothing but trash fish.

As for the old days and ways. Those who have been going to the island for a bit will remember The cajun hide away at do Gris.
we used to park there and walk across the hwy and pay grandma Cheramie $2 each to walk down her pier to get to the pit behind the camps.
6 guys would take 3 ice chest and leave a bunch of chest in the van / truck. Fill the first ice chest 2 guys would take it across to the hide away and filet those fish and ice them down. they would go back to fishing .Then 2 other guys took the next chest full. etc etc etc.
we would come home w/ 5 - 8 ea 48 - 54 qt chest full of trout fillets. Fill all our freezers w/ what we thought we could eat and sell the rest to the fish mkt.
The older guys will also remember when you bought lures they came stapled to a card . One trip down the ONLY lure they would hit was a silver hammered wobble rite spoon. if you had that lure you caught every cast. I just happened to have 2 cards of them in my box.
The guys i went with got one and tied it on and started catching . there was another group of guys there not catching. one of them walked over to see what we were using. i showed him . he offered me $20 for 1 spoon that then was less than 2 bucks . i took it. next thing you know here comes his 3 friends w/ 20 dollar bills in their hands. I took $20 and gave them 3 spoons. $40 i could live with but $80 was a bit to much.

Please post a location as close as possible to where you dad got the ticket. I am going down bank fishing the last week of October and want to make sure that i am not on posted property.Or at least on property that i will get a ticket?
I have been bank fishing the area between fourchon and grand isle for over 30 years and only one time was i asked to leave. I had gotten permission to fish the area from one person and another person in the same family asked me to leave. I didn't argue i picked up my stuff and left.
