I am looking for a guide service where I can take my 8 year son on a Deer and Duck hunt. I would like the duck hunt in the swamp but not a deal breaker. I would be happy with a doe doesn't have to have a big rack. Theadjuster@att.net thanks

I have some guys coming in from GA for a duck hunt. I would like to take them hunting in Venice. I would like to find a place to rent down river instead of having to travel back and forth.

I know there was a place in Port Eads that rent rooms but would like to find a camp if available.

If you have any info please email or call me.

I have a 5 year that I would like to take on a Deer Hunt where he can see at a few Does. I am not that interested in killing anything with horns, but would like to let him see some deer. I want to be able to get into a box stand with a heather (or I can bring my own). I am not looking to spend a weekend or a week's paycheck on the trip.

Thanks,
Tommy

I am 35 and been hunting for 23 or so years. My hunting buddy was is in an bad accident and is has not been able to hunt. I am looking for an opportunity for any invites. I know a couple of areas we can hunt that I have done well in. I am a duck hunter so I have a flat boat with a mud motor on if you hunt areas that you need the added boat.

thanks,

I am looking for someone who is in business of selling Trained beagles. I would like to find a deal willing to lease a pack for the rabbit season. My suggestion is: I pay full price for your dogs and at the end of the season I return them for a portion of the price. I am assuming the expensive part of beagles is the training. With my suggestion you only have to maintain a trained dog and could sell or lease them again. Anyone interested or has a better idea call me.

I am looking for a nice clean camp to rent for a night or two. Something my wife would stay in. Any where in southeast louisiana would be fine. Hopedale, Delacroix, Pointe Au Chen, etc. I am willing to rent during the week if that helps.

Thanks,
Tommy

I am looking for someone in the LaPlace area who owns a Diesel engine that want to partner up to make fuel. I am looking at Transmission Fluid and or Cooking Oil. I have access to 55 gal drums and just looking for some help and maybe storage space. People are using 50/50 used Transmission Oil and Diesel mix and straight Cooking Oil after it is heated up. Email me if you are interested. Thanks, Tommy duckslayer@comcast.net

I problaby don't have the knowledge you have so I won't suggestion anything. I would love to know what you have done to get 8200 rpms. I did the single carb upgrade and the Stainless exhaust but am scare to turn over 4300. Where can I find out what is safe to turn and do you have any other suggestion starting with the cheapest or biggest bang for my buck?

A comment titled: I own a Xtremer 2 in response to a report titled: Best shotgun for duck hunting?

Let me start out by saying I would never pay that kind of money for a gun personally. We are not able to hunt enough in a season for me to justify pay that kind of money. I was able to to get $1400 of Cabela points to buy one.
I bought it in 07 before going to Canada. I shot 2 boxes of 3.5 Mags for the Goose hunts and never felt a thing. I am not a good gun stewart (another reason I don't buy expensive guns) and think I have cleaned it once since buying it and have had no trouble. With the kick off pad absorbing a lot of the recoil it allows u to realign your 2nd and 3th shot faster. Not that I want to be fast but shoting my 3rd shot at 45 yards instead of 55 yards starts to add up.

A comment titled: Duckhunter7777 in response to a report titled: Manchac 'Prairie' a Limited Access Area

I am sorry my writing skills are not that good. I was trying to emphasize the hunting pressure that has increased 3 fold. If I was leasing the pond in the prairie, I would not want more than 4 or 5 blinds hunted on any giving day to be able to hold birds. So on Christmas morning to have 6 boats seem like a lot for Christmas.

I started hunting in the first year of the 3 duck limit. I believe it was 87. So whether I am a good hunter or not I have a lot of experience. PRESSURE IS THE #1 PROBLEM IN MY OPINION.
The first lease I was in you could watch the birds zig zag out of shooting range of the blinds. Where I am hunting now we used to be the only guys that would cross Lake Leary to hunt and we had great hunts. Now I have 5 blinds on top of me and we have been struggling.

A comment titled: At what range are you shooting? in response to a report titled: Steel Shot

I know I am going to be different to everyone else but I shoot an improve cylinder 4-7 shoot. If I am shooting teal (or woodies) in close range I would not have a problem shooting 5 or 6's.
Second day of the season I was hunting by myself (I get to pick the shoots) I used 2 3/4 low brass 6 shot that I bought to dove hunt on a WMA. I limited out in 10 minutes.

If you are shooting close shot I would promote more BB's not bigger. I want to say the last time I shot woddies passing in the woods I shoot 7.5 skeet load.

A comment titled: I am all for a Lottery in response to a report titled: Manchac 'Prairie' a Limited Access Area

I hunted Manachac in the 90's when I was one of the few guys with a go-devil. Had some of the best hunts. I have killed Mallards, Grays, BW and GW Teal, Pins, Wigs, Canvassbacks, Buffleheads, Dogs, Ringnecks, Snows, that is all I remember. Once everyone got Go-devils it got over crowded. I can remember going out on opening day of Teals season and not being able to find a open area to hunt.

I have been the first guy in the pond and before the sun came up there were FOUR __________ on top of me. We would have to shot SWING PASSED SOME __________ SO I WOULD NOT PEPPER THEM SHOT THEN SWING AGAIN PASSED ANOTHER ________. I am not making this up. I went out on CHRISTMAS morning and they had 6 boats hunting. That is when I draw the line and gave up.

Sorry for the rant. I would love to see a Lottery type of system.

A comment titled: Freshwater? in response to a report titled: Ducks in Caernarvon/Delacroix

How old is the diversion? It been there longer than me. I have been hunting for about 10 season or so. Pre-K grays were 80% of our bag. My buddy has had this lease for 20+ years and it was mostly grays. After Katrina it started change. I can't say I have an opinion on why. The first 2 years after Katrina was great but has been trending to Teal.

As far as it being the lack of ponds: my experience has been if there is 2 foot chop on lake leary or Lost Lake the Grays rafted. That is Pre and Post Katrina.

A comment titled: Had some of the best hunt in response to a report titled: Manchac WMA

I had some of my best hunts in Manchac. I quit hunting in about 7 years ago. I used to be one of the few people with a go devil and could go with little competition. Now that everyone has one I got tired of everyone hunting on top of me. The area is small in my opinion I would not want more than 6-8 blinds so the birds could rest. My last hunt was on a Christmas morning when I got there to the prairie there were 6 other boats so I left.

I would suggestion Pointe Aux Chen to you. It is a bigger area that you can get around with an outboard then use a push pole.

To answer your question if you could walk. I have seen one guy who would park his go devil and walk and hunt but it was a short distance. I WOULD NEVER DO IT. You would have to walk to far.

Good luck

A comment titled: I have a Mud Buddy Hyper Drive. in response to a report titled: MUD MOTOR ??????

Before I bought mine I have been running long tails for at least a dozen years. 90% of my boat running experiences is with out Reverse. I an so use to parking so that I don't need reverse I decide it was not worth the added weight. I wanted lighter and power trim. I have not looked at these motors in 4 years or so, so I am not sure who all offers power trim but I WOULD NEVER buy one with out it.

I use power trim every trip no matter if I am by myself or have 3 people wi

A comment titled: I use 6 in response to a report titled: Teal Shot Size??

I use 6 shot low brass 2 3/4. I use a I/C choke all year. With a 20 I would use 6 shot 3 inch. More power for more BB. I use 4 shot 3 inch for big ducks. I have start trying 3 inch 6 shot. It helps that I shot at 30 - 40 yard shot. I don't like to shot over 40 yards. Even with 2 shot I find for me that the percentage of a kill and recovery drops.

Also think how close the birds would get if WE ALL shot at my range. Instead of 50 and 60 yards because the next guy is sky busting.

Do you know of anymore land in Venice for sale.

We kill pretty much every species just depends on where you hunt. Mallards, Summer Mallards, Pins, Greys, Teal, Wig., Cans., Buffelheads, Redheads, Snows, Blues, and more I can't think of. There is also a ton of deer, rabbits, and hogs.
