This is a pic of the cage i have in my food plot, i have one in each plot and all are similar.
Planted late October because of the drought. Inside the cages the growth is as s hown. Outside there is growth but maybe 1/2' tall.

What can I do next year to get ahead of the deer?

La Sportsmen's show is promoting a Big Buck Contest at the 2012 Sportsmens's show.

To be eligible, the Buck must be a 2010-2011 or a 2011-2012 kill. Bring in any buck, even a spike and we'll have it scored for you. Your deer will go on the wall and your name will go into the hopper. One person will win the Grizzly.
Thats right!
Bring in any buck and get it measured and take a shot at the Grizzly...No bull, No tricks. We want our deer wall to be overflowing with racks for people to see. We want it to be a big show and we're willing to give away a $5600 ATV just to encourage you to bring your rack or mount.

Check out the site for more info.

January 15, 2012 at 10:43pm

Kill a buck an win an ATV.
Kill a buck and win a high dollar hunt.
Kill a buck and win other prizes
Kill a buck and win bragging rights

Bring your mount or tell your taxidermist you need the horns for a contest. Someone is going to win some nice stuff.

Check out the Sportsmen's Show Big Buck contest. It's being announced in the January edition of the Sportsman magazine.

A comment titled: They're moving in response to a report titled: Disappearing Deer???

We were seeing lots of deer...all girls in the day time.
I visited my property in Franklin County this weekend. Didn't hunt, scouted with my grandson.
Rubs and Scrapes everywhere.
Acorns should be gone soon, frost killing the vegetation, the boys will start moving soon, I hope.
Anyway, we've been seeing lots of deer just not bucks.

A comment titled: RattleBox in response to a report titled: rattling

i bought a rattlebox at the Mississippi Extravaganza. The inventor was there. He did several side by side comparisons....real horns vs several rattling systems and his sounded best to me.
We'll soon see if the bucks can hear the difference.
