Anyone been to South Farms lately? have not been since last spring and was thinking about taking the kids there tomorrow. appreciate any info
I forget where I saw it, but I thought there was an article on an additional Red Snapper IN STATE WATERS to begin on November 20. Does anyone know if there is going to be an additional State Water season this year???
went Friday for a short time, crawfish were ok, not real fast but the law enforcement activity was ON FIRE! I think they ticketed everyone on the entire WMA except for me. I was tempted to just hold up a $100 bill when the truck went by to save time. Most of the roads are still marked 'no wheeled vehicles' and I understand the enforcement of the rules, but even following the rules of the WMA I feel extremely unwelcome there. I'll probably quit going there to avoid the hassle, and I'm sure others will too. Soon, the LEO's will have it all to themselves, peace and quiet. With not much use there won't be any need for the robust WMA staffing then.
Never mind - just saw todays news on the LWDF website that state snapper will be open back up on November 20. inside 3, free range 2 red limit, between 3&9 'at your own risk' outlaw snapper fishing.
I was visited by two different LDWF boats within 30min/2miles of each other south of grand isle around 10miles out last weekend. Both were very polite and did only a cursory check. I even remembered to ask the second about where exactly the state recognized line ended. The officer invited me aboard and showed me his chart plotter. He gave me the coordinates to draw a line to use for reference.
Once they start beating up your feeder, the only way to keep the bears from raiding the feeders is to hang them. recommend hanging as high as possible with a cable and a hand crank winch. They will still get hungry and try to find a way to climb up the cable.
we rented boats last saturday with Gaspard's and had a great experience with them. Very friendly and flexible with solid rental equipment. The fishing was not on fire in grand isle last weekend as mentioned but we still managed a hand full of specks and three keeper reds to make for a nice fry.
i know bashing a dealer is not popular on this site, but i bought a brand new champion from cajun in 2006 and had the worst experience of my life. They butchered installing all of the options that i requested, wired up the battery bank wrong which left me without a trolling motor after several trips, and the service department was exactly as previously described. Every time i took my brand new boat back to get the problems fixed, they let it sit out there for 3-4 weeks until i made an issue out of it. I lived 3 miles from Cajun and that is why i bought the boat there, so that i could have it easily serviced. I learned quickly how to work on the boat myself.
wow! nice haul flies!
you do realize that you are jokin about a documented violation of game laws

I had a 20.5 ft boat w/ 65 gal tank and 150 yamaha 2 stroke. Used it offshore when the seas allowed, and went farther out than i should have been in a boat of this type. I put a lot of thought into my range and checked my mileage several times w/ GPS upon return. In the end, 2-3 mpg is a SAFE estimate and using 120 miles round trip maximum always left me with a 1/3 tank buffer, even loaded with 3 men and scuba gear.
nice lookin buck
no disrespect, but i would like to see a pic of the front side.
makes me hungry
thanks for the info, saved me the drive!
