Caught these this morning not that far from Bayou Bienvenue. First time on the water since November. It was nice to be back out there.

I am trying to lease a small tract of land to take my 6 year old son squirrel hunting on. The piece of property does not have to be that big since we will just squirrel hunt. I live in Covington so I am looking for something not too far from there. I respect the land and all of the laws. Please call me at 504-914-3788 if you have anything.

My brother is coming in for a visit the weekend after labor day. We are trying to determine if we should surf fish Grand Isle/Elmers Island or go to Lake Verret and fresh water fish. I have not surf fished in years and have never surf fished as late as Sepetember so I am trying to get information/opinions on if Sept is a good time to surf fish. Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We got this 9' 9' alligator a few days ago courtesy of the LDWF WMA lottery alligator hunts. We all had a great time.

Does anyone know if deer hunting in Joyce during firearm season is buck only or either sex? Thanks

Anybody know where I can get tide information for Manchac Pass or the western side of Lake P? Or does someone know what is the best posted tide location to use with a correction factor? Thanks, Jason

I recently moved to Hammond and have been bass fishing Ruddock without much luck. I hear Ruddock is not the best place to bass fish but since it is so close to home I figured I would give it a try. Can anyone who has fished Ruddock much provide a few tips such as is it better to fish in the highway canal or dead end canals or under the bridge or in the Ruddock Canal? Or, is it better to just go fish somewhere else? Best baits? Also, has anyone ever caught any fish out of the Natalbany River?
Thanks

I have recently moved from Jefferson La to Hammond. I have been duck hunting the Salvadore WMA for the past 8 years. I would like to find land/water to lease or join a duck hunting lease. I would prefer a place that was within an hour or so drive from Hammond. I have a gator trax boat with mudbuddy and a good retriever. Any information would be appreciated. I am 35, have been hunting for most of my life and respect the laws of the land.
Thanks,
Jason

Thanks for the explanation. I remember a bunch of logs and junk in cane bayou but maybe that was just towards the beginning. I have not been to goose point in years. I tend to go out of Chef Pass when I go but since I live in Mandeville would be nice to find a place a little closer to home. What type of boat you have? I have a 20 ft xpress but think the lake would probably be too rough for it with any amount of South wind.

Hi Mandevillian,
I have a question for you....why do you launch out of Cane Bayou to go to Causeway and fish other spots in the lake? Don't you pretty much have to idle the entire way out to the lake? I only launched there once and decided unless I was fishing the mouth of the bayou then I would be better off launching somewhere else such as in Bayou Lacombe or the Mandeville boat launch.

A comment titled: Bait Shops in Hammond in response to a report titled: Sac-a-lait Fishing

Not sure what part of Hammond you are moving to, but there is a bait shop on hwy 22 in Springfield that sells shiners. It is called Ratcliffs. Also, the Chevron on 190 near I-55 sells shiners. I think there is another couple of bait shops around. I never fished the Tchefuncte though. Maybe there is some close to it. You can also try the Tangipahoa, Yellow Cotton and Natalbany rivers.

A comment titled: Beware in response to a report titled: hunting lease in tangipahoa parish

I had a lease last year close to Tangi parish. Mine was in Albany. Seems like almost every time I went out there I caught someone either poaching or just messing around on the land. If it is near a residential area you may have trouble keeping people off.

The past two years I got tags through the lottery hunts and processed my own gators. They are not that hard to do, just take your time. Obviously, the larger the gator the harder it is but we got a 10 footer last year and within a couple hours we had it cleaned.

My suggestion is to wash the pot out before you cooked it. Someone probably took a wiz in it before you used it to cook. I have seen that happen hundreds of times.

Ghost man, You must be one patient dude cause I would have given up long time ago. I am wondering how you it took you 18 years of bow hunting to get your first deer with a bow. Did you not hunt much, hunt a good bit and not see much or missed what you shot at? I haven't hunted with a bow that much but I am not sure I would have the patience to stick at it that long without killing anything. Congrats.

Tangihunter, Are you hunting public or private land? I have been hunting Joyce with no luck at all. I have been going off of Hwy 51. Any tips?

$2000.00

70 lb Thrust 24 Volt Minn Kota Riptide (Rip Tide) trolling motor. It came on the Xpress boat I purchased earlier this summer. I am selling to swap out with a foot controlled trolling motor. The motor works great. I have used it pretty much every weekend this summer. I changed the motor brushes along with the seals and gaskets to the motor housing in May so it is ready for many more years of use. Asking $270. Call or text Jason at 504-914-3788
