New To Sportsman Network?

For anyone who has, or is looking for a trail cam, I have some info about Bushnell that you may need to know. I have 3 of the Bushnell Trophy Cams. Overall I have been happy with them. Last year, 2 of the gaskets around the doors started to leak. I sent Bushnell an email asking how I could order new gaskets, and they responded that I needed to call their 800 number. Today I called that number. I was told that they cannot sell me replacement gaskets and that I would need to return the cameras so they could be repaired. I told them that they did not need to be repaired, they just needed new gaskets. He said returning them was my only option. Whoever heard of a company doing something stupid like this. They won't sell me the part I need. I have been faithful to Bushnell in the past, but this really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I will not be buying their products again. Just something to keep in mind before you buy their products.

Does anyone have any reports for the crappie on Iatt Lake? I know they drained the lake last year, and I haven't had a chance to get by there since then. I was thinking about maybe running some yoyos soon. If anyone has info it would be appreciated.

Is anyone seeing any signs that the white oaks are going to make this year? The trees that I've looked in don't seem to have any acorns, but my eyes aren't what they used to be. The red oaks are dropping some, but the deer in my area don't seem to be feeding on them as much as I had hoped.

I think you will find that the woods here are quite a bit different than Texas. As far as I know, there are not any bow only clubs. Some of the WMAs in the area are bowhunter 'friendly', but they are becoming more crowded every year. There is a small WMA in Wernon parish near Leesville that is bow only, but I have not scouted it. I usually bow hunt until duck season opens, then switch to ducks. You don't really want to be in the WMAs during muzzleloader or gun season unless you like seeing orange vests everywhere. Good luck. Let me know if you have any other questions about the area.

Are they on the beds or still a little deeper? All the water here will have them messed up for a while.

Not trying to jack this thread, but you said you know Saline real well. I'm going there tomorrow. Could you point me in the right direction to pick up a few crappie?

Thanks.

It's about time! Too many people on public land think that since they build a blind they own the land. It's not a safe situation the way it has been.

Catahoula lake was about 12 feet high last time I checked a few days ago and still rising. Might not be worth the drive, even if you live close.

I've tried molasses before. Best thing I've used is a pvc pipe with threaded ends that you can put a cap on. Put a small hole in the bottom cap to let the molasses drip out. You'll have to play with the hole size to get the speed you want depending on thickness. I can't say that I had any success with it, but it would seem like the smell might attract them. Good luck.

Looks like a well placed shot. My 4 arrow quiver always has 3 for deer and 1 for a hog. None have come close enough for a shot yet, but it's just a matter of time as fast as they are taking over. WLF really needs to do something before they completely take over.

I'm assuming you are talking about DU. I've heard too many stories about how they are doing things north of LA to keep the ducks there for the winter. I refuse to give them any of my money to keep the ducks from coming this far south. It ticks me off that LA is giving them money from every duck stamp sold.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I went to Catahoula today for the first time this year. I saw 3 ringnecks the whole time. I see guides on here that are looking for business talking about killing limits every day. I'm gonna have to call BS on that. The birds just aren't here. It's that simple.

Why did you waste shells on all those coots?

Looks like this rain will help quite a bit. I just drove by Catahoula a few days ago, and it looked pretty dry to me. Will the plants have enough time to grow since it was flooded most of the summer?

People can say whatever they want. I have personally seen 2 cougars where I hunt in central LA. The people at the wildlife and fisheries office all but called me a liar when I told them about it. They repeatedly told me that what I saw was a bobcat. If anyone has ever seen a 150 lb bobcat with a 3 ft tail, I would sure like to know about it. I spend enough time in the woods, that I can identify what I see. I never said what I saw was black because it wasn't. There may not be many, but there are cougars here.
