So I hate this new louisiana sportsman website, you cant look at latest reports at all. No option to sort by date posted anymore. Go back to the old way. It was nice and worked fine.

I'm considering buying a 20' alumafab hull and putting my 115 four stroke on it. What are you guys thoughts on it. I love the hull but I taked to someone and they said it wasn't a good setup.
So I value any opinion.
Thanks

So killed this boar friday evening. I was wondering what you guys figured he weighs.
Took an hour to drag him out a 1/4 mile.
I did field dress him too. Anyway I figured
close to 200, game warden seemed to agree.
Thanks and my biggest too.

so i want to make a weekday hunt, Tuesday or Wednesday, but I'm not sure if tommorow is the better or Wednesday is. They sy the front will come through tommorow, but it will be faliing temps and raising winds. Wednesday is supposed to cold and very windy. So which one, I'm thinking Wednesday, but I wouldn't mind an opinion because I'm ony four years into duck hunting, and usaully I just go when I'm not working.
Thanks

So how was everyone's teal season? Mine was interesting. I hunted Salvador opening morning, never saw a teal, shot 15 gallinules. Next morning went to Manchac, saw seven killed my 6 birds by 9am. Last sunday back to manchac, loads of teal. Killed my six again by 8am. Today, last teal hunt went to manchac again, never saw a single teal, my 3yo killed two gallinules and a nutria. So overall ok season for me, but not great. I hope everyone did as well or better than me.

May 19, 2012 at 7:23pm

so thanks for the tips on lake p, I went out and filled the box. One stop shop for me. 17 trout, four flounder, 2 sheepshead, 4 black drum. All caught under sliding cork. I threw about ten trout back. 6 or 7 are 3 lbs the rest are from 12 to 16 inches. Awesome trip started at 7 on trailer at 11 home at noon. thanks for the tips guys. By the way this was the first time I got to just sit back in my bass boat and relax. I only moved to bait the hook or put a fish in the chest. I literaly anchoered and didn't leave until the 50 shrimp I bought were all eaten. Thanks again for the info, I think I'm addicted now lol.

Ok so i am going to attempt to fish lake tommorow and stray from my green buddies. I plan on launching at dockside, fishing live shrimp. I'll use a carolina rig and weight will determine on current, a treble hook will be used. My question is should I fish the train bridge or the twin span and where is a good spot try. I am a complete rookie in the lake. I don't want a secret spot just a good community spot to try. I realize if the water is dirty don't fish there, I'll look for green if I can find it. Thanks Guys!!!!!!

So went to delacroix today, buy shrimp, livewell was dead, so no live shrimp, went out anyway. The wind was up at 630am by ten it was terrible. We still managed 40 15' to 18' specks, a few sailcats, and an unbelivable amount of hardheads all caught on plastic. It was a good trip a shame we couldn't use live shrimp and the wind was brutal.

So, went turkey hunting at my lease in mississippi, hadn't went all year, first and last weekend for me.
So I went to small food plot where a source tells me a few were gobbling. On the way down I here so owl hooters on the end of our property so I slip in setup and wait. They keep hooting and then 3 birds start going nuts. I soft purred and soft yelp. Immediate response from two birds. Within minutes they hit again even closer. I wait, do one more soft yelp and soft purr. They hit again even closer then I see two white heads coming down a ridge. I line up waiting, then on the knoll in front I hear something else walking up..... A red fox comes out sneaking to my decoy, the gobblers pop and putt and fly and needless to say somehow my lead flew in the red foxes direction!!!! Well,
no turkey but a turkey eater is dead and caped. Good weekend, first time for me to call a varmint.
Didn't hear anymore birds rest of weekend. Anyhow hope everyone enjoyed my weekend report.

Can anyone tell me why the north side of airline hwy is closed to vehicles, i hunt here and cannot drive to go hunt now. Rangers didn't have a reason. I have a nice bass boat and I wont use that for hunting. So my only option is that road. Any help would be great. Wrecked my opener.

October 07, 2011 at 10:23am

So I am going to open a can of worms. Yesterday I was fishing in Lafitte, 5 min from boat launch in my bass boat. I had a guy with alabama numbers pass me 25 feet off my bow in a 24 ranger bay boat going 25 to 30 mph, he put a wave over my bow, I have his numbers and video taped him when he passed later, he slowed down this time cause i told him he's getting reported, I had several other boats meaning every freaking moron oout there not slow down, they either plow by or speed by regardless, they are less 100 ft from my boat. This is ridiculous, to top it off I watched a guy who slowed down for me and another guy fishing have a guy in a trihull pass 15 feet to his port side. This is outrageous, I will film everyone doing this from now on and turn you in. People have no rrespect out there. i called wildlife enforcement about two weeks ago cause of the same problem except it was in barataria waterway by the shrimp processing plant, i was anchoring 30 ft off the dock and no one slowed down in fact they sped by me closer. Ridiculous. Wildlife said in lafitte the only rule is no wake 300ft from a boat launch. Well that definitly is not enforced try launching at goose bayou or Joes guaruanteed to have your boat slammed around. So I was told that if I get waved out by someone, if it damages my boat or hurts someone on my boat thye are solely responsoble but you need a witness or a video camera. Well yesterday I had both, and I promise anyone who waves me out will get a ticket in the mail. I'm tired of it I go fishing where there shouldn't be any 2-3 foot waves coming over my bow and there are. I have a bad back and love lafitte I catch alotta bass out there and won't stop going. But if you find yourself on candid camera, you better check your mail box cause you are getting a ticket. Simple Solution guys : SLOW DOWN TO A DEAD IDLE, I have a 65mph bass boat and I slow for other boats, there are no fish that need to be 1 minute sooner. Hope I don't film you cause tickets aren't cheap. Just ask Mr. Alabama in a few days.

A comment titled: lights in response to a report titled: fine

Man i get you with lights issue, i was given a warning the other day cause my stern light wouldn't stay on, it was flickering with vibration from the boat, but it was the socket not making good connection. I didn't argue though, I showed him it was flickering, he wrote a warning, but I am not mad about it because my biggest issue with boaters is no lights on their boat especially when its foggy. I've almost hit multiple boats over the years and they didn't even have lights at all, so if you get mad at someone, blame the idiots out there who dont even try to have running lights, basically the good suffer cause of the bad. Sorry you got a ticket though.

A comment titled: agree and disagree in response to a report titled: Harassment of our waterfowl

So i have been duck hunting about four years, last year and this I have been very serious about it. I have shot limits 4 out of five hunts this year, 3 in teal and one in first split. Now I have hunted other species for years, but I don't skybust, I actually like to get birds to attempt to land in my spread because it's an awesome feeling to kill birds that were dedicated to your spot. But this weekend was an eye opener for me with hunting boats in general. I saw people at 7am riding the ponds and swamps all over. Saturday we saw birds trying to come in but people were riding everywhere and they left, unreal. I had one greenhead come by I started to work him, he turned about 300 yards out and 200ft high, then boom, so idiot starts shooting. YOu know the rest, the same guy cranks up 2 minutes later literally, and starts blazing threw the pond to some birds that were working the pond. Wow. Screw that go devil or outboard there is no need for that, salvador by the way. Sunday, I paddled in to a spot no wants to go to because it takes 15 minutes of hard paddling, all by myself, 5 birds at 640am, while iwas waiting to see another, at 730 3 mudboats I saw go in to a swamp, all came out and were riding all over for 3 hours, I finally got my last bird, paddle out, these guys are just blowing threw the swamp and ponds doing what I don't know. So my point is, I agree and disagree, its not mudboats that are the problem, its the guys that get these things and are empowered to 'SCOUT' with them and they are able to go places that before only a pirouge could go. But, also the pressure the ducks get from skybusting is another issue. Why would you shoot at a duck 100 ft over you or 75 yards out. These crazy chokes people use must make them belive they can shoot like a 270 rifle or something. I use a Improved cylinder and kill birds out to 50 yards, yesterday I dropped a spoonie at 50 when he was flying out after I shot one of his buddies closer.
Anyway hope this makes sense but it really comes down to immaturity and impatience, if you get bored that easy, then go home don't screw it up for everyone else. And I also want to thank those guys for scaring birds my way too.

A comment titled: my gun in response to a report titled: teal season results

he shot my 12 guage, i shoulder it and hold it up, he tries to aim and pulls the trigger, he missed some to, i haven't got a youth gun for him yet his arms are to short for now, but he gets to shoot still. I been teaching him with a red ryder buck bb gun. He knows to look down the barrel and put the red bead on the target, he does pretty well. Now if I was shooting limits I would still only keep one limit since i'm still helping him. Fishing thats another story he holds his own there, he's caught lots of trout and redfish on his own, most the time its just helping him get it in the boat.

A comment titled: glad your ok in response to a report titled: boat incident

So, I had 2 bass boats in my life, never had any close calls, always ran 55mph as a cruise speed. Most the haters on here are just jealous and envy guys with nice fast bass boats. Well, I now own a flatboat, I hate it. But it can carry a pirougue and catch fish. I have had three incidents in my flatboat, 18' express w 115 yammy 4stroke. Loss of control in a turn, a 24mph turn. Most unsafe boat I have owned. Where I run at the water is shallow and you have to stay on plane or risk idling a long way. My bass boat would take corners like a nascar. Never slid, dug, or hopped. So all you idiots out there who dont know the first thing about bass boats, and you slide around a corner and hit a bass boat, just remember he might have been going fast but you couldn't control your turn so slid in front of him. Anyhow, bass boats are high performance hulls decide to ride nice, go fast and handle like a dream. they are SAFE. I can guarantee anyone who hates this post has never rode or driven a bass boat and hate bass boats because they think they are unsafe and for kevin vandam wannabees. Wrong.

Went last weekend, heard two gobbles, I was looking at 6 hens, when he gobbled they literally went straight to him, guy I hunt with kills 3 every year and he couldn't even get much of a response. I hunt that same area too, neighbors had 8 guys up, killed 3, but they strictly hunted food plots, they had setup cameras and new when and where the birds were coming. I prefer to listen and chase and call. Good Luck, couple weeks it'll be good.

I took a spike, 3 weeks ago the weighed 165, he had 4 molars and 2 front teeth, he was waddling for 2 hours before i shot him, he was really old I guess, place I hunted has bad genes, day before I culled him I shot a 14inch 4 point, 3yo or so, the points barely split and rack was just straight up. Alabama by the way.

A comment titled: page 34 in the regulations in response to a report titled: Sherbone WMA-citation

I think if you launched on the wma you had to have it, if you didn't then your good. Good luck man,
I think its a bad ticket regardless cause you were fishing, hunting I would've expected you to know. I can promise I'll fill one out everytime anyway now.

No permit is required of fishers and
boaters who do not travel on a WMA
road and/or launch on the WMA as
long as they do not get out of the boat
and onto the WMA.
• Self-Clearing Permits are not required
for persons only traveling through the
WMA provided that the most direct
route is taken and no activities or
stops take place.
• When Mandatory Deer Checks are
specified on WMAs, hunters must
check deer at a check station.
Persons using WMAs or other LDWF
administered lands for any purpose
other than hunting must possess one of
the following:
1. a valid Wild Louisiana Stamp
2. a valid Louisiana fishing license
3. a valid Louisiana hunting license

I fish tank ponds, gulf canal, and thats salvador wma, I have never been given a ticket for no selfclearing permit. I have been checked at least seven to eight times and they have never asked that question. I would check the rules if I were you, you may be able to get outta that.

I killed one opening morning saw 20 only one came in. Second weekend saw 7, they flew by and as they circled someone else shot at them way high, one single broke off and got him. Hunted sat and sunday for last weekend, saw 25 sat, 6 buzzed us, didn't return 2 came in, well hate to admit but miss miss lol. Sunday, saw 7, one single got smoked, pair one died other left screaming, other four flew over when we were loading pirogue up lol. Terrible season, lots of big ducks around though and some gallinules and rails. Saw 15 poodoo yesterday. The area I hunted was very hit or miss from the people I talked too most did bad a few guys had a good flight or two opening weekend and got limits but never happened after that they said.

A comment titled: hog in response to a report titled: Hog hunting in Pearl River WMA?

I haven't hunted hogs out there in years but the weapon of choice is gong to be what is allowed to hunt with during that time when you go. For instance, if its bow season for deer and squirrel season too, the biggest load you can shoot is BB or smaller, archery or a 22 rifle. If its gun for deer then you can hunt with a rifle or buckshot. Turkey loads do wonders, pattern your gun if you use buckshot, you will be surprised by those results. On that south area I have heard about and seen many pigs in that area good luck and post pictures if you kill any. Also the regulation book should have specific details on that WMA.
