I'm looking for some broadheads to shoot with my new bow, a Bowtech Admiral. I always shot Muzzy before. I'm looking at the Rage, Muzzy MX-3, or NAP Hellrazor. Anyone have any experience with these?

I killed this 9-point this weekend at our lease in St. Landry Parish near Indian Bayou WMA. I also killed a doe the next day, so it was a pretty exciting weekend for us! I got him near the same stand that I killed a good buck last year (see my other posts).

I have a Lowrance X86 DS fishfinder. I'm having a lot of trouble getting readings, both depth and sonar. Does anyone have one of these units and/or can you give me any advice to help it work?

Does anyone know where I could get a fiberglass boat repainted? It's an old boat that my uncle sold to me and I really don't have time to do it myself.

I just bought a new rifle and I'm trying to find a good scope to put on it. I'm looking at either a Trijicon Accupoint or a Leupold VX-L. Does anyone have any experience with either of these scopes or do you have any other suggestions?

I killed this deer on January 19 in Krotz Springs, St. Landry Parish, in Lucky 13 Hunting Club. I shot him on a part of our lease bordering Indian Bayou at 5:45 in the afternoon. He's an 8 point with an 18 inch inside spread. The deer was in full rut, so he only weighed 175 lbs. This was my first good rack deer. I haven't had time to score him and I'm not really experienced in scoring, but does anyone have a rough score they could give me?

So very sorry to hear about your dog. I've lost two in the past year. It's amazing how close you can get to them.

Ha Ha! I totally agree with ya'll, but if I think about how much money I spent on a hunting lease and other things this year, my deer meat cost about $9.00 a pound!

A comment titled: re in response to a report titled: Trespassers!! What can I do?

I agree with the danger of shooting so close to someone else's land, but if a duck would fall on your property, they have the legal right to retrieve that game, even though you may consider it trespassing.

A comment titled: re in response to a report titled: Do you shoot coyotes?

Friend of mine shot a coyote off of his stand, then 5 minutes later shot an 8-point, all with a rifle. Just to say that shooting a coyote doesn't necessarily ruin your hunt. I agree that I don't like killing things I don't eat, but I'll make a big exception for a coyote.

I've hunted with a 20 gauge for most of my life. I only switched to a 12 gauge about 6 years ago. I had a 3 inch magnum 20 gauge, it'll do just about anything you want to do.

Change of subject, but someone commented on ATV traffic. I think that really depends on where you hunt. I hunt in an area surrounded by farmland. The deer are used to ATV traffic, and barely give a second thought to ATV's. One guy in our club killed an 8-point sniffing his ATV. They are so used to seeing, hearing, and smelling ATV's, trucks, and tractors that they don't associate them with danger.

Beautiful deer, man! Looks like you might have to mount him on the floor so his rack doesn't go through the ceiling.

You need to quit hunting with a baseball bat, all it's doing is messing up your mounts. lol

A comment titled: re: sponges in response to a report titled: Any coyote killers around?

I have heard the same thing about the sponges. We tried it on our property once. You have to use some pretty big pieces of sponge, and the bad thing is that it takes a long time to kill them. It swells up in their intestines and blocks them up. Could take days or even weeks, and that's assuming that they don't pass it.

So you can shoot there with compound bows? I didn't know that. What's the hours over there?
