12-20-14 Had a great hunt this am at the Lake Ophelia Youth Hunt this morning. Wanna say thanks to Mr Ted for being a great guide. Buck was taken at 8:30 and weighed 169lbs and the doe wasn't taken until 11:00am and weighed 149lbs.
I had a guy contact me yesterday after his 22 cricket misfired on him with not as bad of injuries as my sons, still the info needs to be passed along. He was beside the vent hole assisting his child shoot the gun. The only sure thing that I can tell from the two incidents are that we were both using remington bulk ammo. The cheap stuff that most buy when taking a child shooting. Also for the defense of the gun manufactor, the vent hole done its job.For those who are not familiar with what I'm talking about you can look at my report from last year to catch you up.
These are the pics of the gun to kida shed some light. I know guns have to vent somewhere but why on the side where his hand or dads hand to help hold steady is.
I want as many people as possible to know about this accident to my 7 year old chap this past weekend. First of all I'm not bashing any product, I just don't want anymore injuries until there's more info. The rifle was a 22 cricket. Ammo was Remington. Bottom line the gun/ammo misfired which it vents out the left side of the gun on the barrel and it caught his thumb resulting in a very tragic accident. He's having surgery Wed. to remove the shrapnel from the bone.I own two of these guns and love them. I taught my boys how to shoot with these and they went on to be a very good shot. I can email anyone the pics or give more details. Please pass this on because its camp time and alot of young kids have these guns with tons of the cheap ammo to burn up. Please see the rest of the pics further down on another post.
