Anyone else tired of seeing these endless Apex stories that are pretty ridiculous? Personally, i think the site would be better if another one was never posted. Just my .02

Tomorrow morning i'm going make a road trip to highway1 around Grand Isle to attempt wade fishing for the first time. I hear this is a pretty time of the year to catch a few along the highway which is blocks the big north winds. Just hoping for ANY recommendations(general locations, approach whether plastic or live, depths to focus on, maybe time frame, anything). Bringing my ol'lady along and it's a 3 hour drive for a 'shot in the dark' so trying to prevent it from being a complete strikeout and have a little action!

thanks in advance!

Heading Southeast tonight for bowfishing... Debating on stopping in the Dularge area or go to our holes in Grand Isle, any advice on where the clearest water may be found? Especially in Dularge because we are not familiar with the area. We have been once, couldn't buy a red fish but we did shoot a lot of alligator gar.

thanks in advance

'I love reading his articles. That dude is hardcore and a little on the crazy side. Reminds me of a few guys I grew up with. Lol.'

we must be from the same area lol. I grew up with plenty crazy ones and I also know guys with really high success rates but they just keep it to themselves instead of advertising it

and the 'someones jealous', my freezer is full with what i can eat in an offseason, MANY more animals could have died(i refuse to shoot a pig bc i'm not dragging it out)

how many of those reports can you apply to your personal hunts to be successful? I may be wrong but I dont recall what kind of feed trees he's dialing into or what kind of natural funnels or what kind of conditions he finds preferable. I haven't read anything but 'i cover insane amounts of miles and shoot what i see bc i'm typically trying different types of weapons'

i could not agree more. Congrats on the very average deer killed. Not to mention him telling us the insane volume of them he kills. Then the pigs.... thanks for trying to maintain them for WMA's but the stories arent interesting and who cares if they're cleaned in the woods, in a shed, etc. Who cares it rode in a rental? I by no means support what ppl have done with his tire and corn around his truck but i dont think it's jealousy.... i think it's ppl just over seeing him do things MANY do even though many are successful without having to cover the ground he claims in the over the top stories. His 'racing' gets looped into this site...... no clue why. Then he catches big blue cat....... we literally beat them off our lines in the river when we set and just keep spots. I hunt WMA's only. I could have tagged out but chose to kill 3. And i would have stopped at 2 because that's what i can realistically eat in an off-season BUT I knew an older man who cant hunt anymore and gave him one. The stories often SCREAM 'greed' and 'attention'. But again, just my .02. I know many ppl i work with send me links when they see him and they have similar feelings to say the least.

he lives on the cover, often times doing what many succeed at in the woods on a semi-regular basis as well. And '5 mile' runs in a reserve...... Idk how he's not on private land. Not many WMA's you can go 5 miles and not cross multiple trails/roads. It's just over the top. On the cover a lot for whatever reason. I mean if i didn't work and someone funded me to live in the woods, i would be very successful as well. And the 'your jealous' potential responses..... LOL, nah. My success is mine, i do not need recognition or self-promotion.

yes, you can fish it with a 14' with a 15hp but it's wide open, i wouldn't attempt it on a big wind. Especially not a big north. A big south the launch blocks so you could fish camps and rozos in front of them(and all of south bank, north side would be rough)

that place is hands down the hardest WMA to 'learn'. THICK/HUGE palmettos and still has A LOT of people. I've been 6/7 times and really have no advice. Most ppl are tight lipped about it because it's so hard to find decent areas, so when you do.... you dont share.

big deer but THICK

i personally didnt do well, gave up on trout after a few hours and let my gf real in a couple black drum(20-25lbs) and a sting ray.

i tried road side drops with tsunami swim baits, 1/2oz chartreuse matrix and gulp to fish slow on botton, gf threw vudoo under a cork with about a 5ft leader, nothing....

our action came off the dock right before the big bridge.

I'll say we got there at 11 bc we drove in about 3.5 hours and I wasn't leaving at 2am to get there for daylight and a 'maybe' bc i've never done that type of fishing.

A comment titled: Needle Nose? in response to a report titled: Bowfishing

y'all go out and shoot needle nose all night? Southeast LA holds a lot of alligator gar, reds, flounder, sheep head, black drum, etc.

just seems off y'all target needle nose.

that's how we hunt gar ^^^

A comment titled: I would try... in response to a report titled: Fishing

Buy shrimp, get in the deeper areas, canals, center of ditches.... and fish the bottom..... or even fish with cracked crab broken in half... fishing the bottom is DESPERATION but you should get bit... gaftops, black drum, and maybe a lucky bull red.....

A comment titled: Results in response to a report titled: Dularge/Grand Isle

I didnt check this post after we hit the road ( i clearly should have ) , water was MUDDY, not nearly the bait running that we typically see.

4 hour drive one way for 1 alligator gar, 3 reds, 3 sheephead, 1 stingray

that's about as bad as it gets, i'll probably go to Dularge this coming week.
