I was working til dark the other day in St Martin Parish way back in the woods and heard a strange sound that sounded like a woman screaming. I went back to the sound and yelled and no one responded. The next morning I went back there and saw some tracks that were cat-like and very large. I put a trail cam out and this is what I retrieved today

Not bashing you in particular, but this mindset is why we will never eliminate pigs. Once pigs become labeled as 'sport' and not the invasive swine that they truly are, the battle is lost. Its happening now

Hate to be THAT guy, but people who catch and release pigs are responsible for the hog problems we have now. Shoot those things when you get a chance, dont just catch them and release them.

Either antlered doe or a buck with some sort of testosterone issue. Could be from a testicular injury

If you get a good spell of warm weather for 3 or 4 days, crabbing can be great even this time of year. Last year it was great in the winter and the crabs were big and full

Ditto on cats not typically showing claws. The size of the print suggests regular dog. Coyotes are pretty small dogs rarely getting over 50 lbs

Yeah the term 'heated ponds' is false. But like everything else if people keep saying it over and over.....

In response to marsh hunter. Farmers lose money when they leave grain behind. Most are not intentionally leaving grain behind. If it was feasible they would get evey piece of grain

Scaffold is this your full time job? How many leases do you 'manage'? Or are you just a member?

Yep Canadas used to come down here and snows were once uncommon. Specks are starting to stay further north. Blue winged teal are shot all season now. It used to be rare to shoot a plumed out bw teal. If you shot a fulvous or black-bellies whistling duck you had a trophy. Now they are common. Times are changing just have to adapt

It's crazy but yes it's legal. You can grow a hundred acres of rice/corn/soybeans, not harvest it, and then flood or. Nothing about that is 'normal ag practices' but it's still legal. We have been doing that in Louisiana for years and now the states north of us are realizing how much money can be made by leasing to silly dick hunters so they are doing it too

What do you propose we do? Make it illegal for states north of us to flood ag fields like we have been doing for years?

The machine would be pretty worthless out at Maurepas. The salvinia isn't just floating in the middle of canals. It is all throughout the swamp in the trees and in the grass. The machine can't get to it all. If you do not get EVERY single plant hen it will just keep coming back. It can reproduce by cloning and can multiply very fast. LDWF could spend its entire budget fighting invasive and wouldn't do much long term to combat them

The reason why 1:1 is so hard to maintain is because nature tends to correct itself. You will have to kill a ton of does each year to maintain a 1:1 ratio. Nature wants the doe numbers to be higher than the bucks to boost the population, so you will start to see does having more doe fawns than buck fawns in subsequent years, which leads to having to shoot a bunch of does every year.

I also believe 1:1 is a bit of a stretch. Its cool to say you are trying to maintain a 1:1 ratio but its hard, real hard to actually do

Have to stay on designated trails, but read the pamphlet for each WMA. Some allow you to retrieve your game with an ATV, some don't. Some do not even have ATV trails period
