Has anyone compared the Legend Cartography 'Louisiana Geaux ' card to the Standard Mapping 'LA-1' card?
Is there any great difference in the two? I fish the spillway , Verret, Des Allemandes, Delacroix, Laffette and sometimes Venice. I'm looking for a good Aerial Imagery mapping system. If you have compared the two, which would you recommend?

Anyone know the water conditions in Lake Concordia or St. John? Thinking of going there on March 28th. I'm from south LA and just don't want to make that drive if the water is messed up. Bass fishing, so any information would be greatly appreciated.
Caught these two there last year.

Friday, 4/20/13, Lake Okhissa, NE wind 15-20 mph, cloudy all day,68 degrees for the high,The bass were SMOKING, caught 12 in the slot with 5 keepers on Top Water, chug bugs and Rogues. What a day, five bass were over six pounds!
Saturday, 4/21/13, lake Okhissa, NW wind 5-10 mph, bright sun, 70 degrees for the high, a whole differant ball game! One in the slot and 5 keepers, on plastics, shut down!
I guess thats why it's called fishing, not catching. lol

Planning a trip to Okhissa next week, March 9th and 10th. Have the Bass began spawning yet? What is the water temp? I have fished the lake several times in past years, just seeking current conditions and if you want to brag about any recent trips... I'm all ears! Any info would be apprecaited.

I recently purchased a small houseboat that I would like to locate (long term)around the Upper Bayou Sorrell area of the spillway. I can not find any info about the regulations concerning houseboats. I have been told that any state owned land is fair game, but I'm not sure that is correct. I see plenty of houseboats all over the spillway, any info would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to locate the boat somewhere that would get me a citation, then have to move it.
I called LDWF, they only have permits for the Atchafalya delta area, way too far south.
Anyone out there with experiance about houseboats???

Super Sunday, thats what I call this trip to the spillway. 18 keepers above 14' and three times that in throw backs. The day started slow catching a few small fish in Pigeon itself, after scouting around, we found them. All the fish were caught in dead end canals off of bayou Pigeon on spinnerbaits, but from 12:00 till 2:00 was one of those 'magical times' when we were able to catch a fish on almost every other cast.It was unbelievable, we had double hook-ups quite a few times. Then, it ended as abruptly as it started, but we were still able to pick up a few more fish scattered here and there. I was especially pleased that I was able to share the experiance with my eldest son. A great day fishing the spillway.

The best way to judge is: if you don't have solid banks on both sides of your boat, your trespassing.
I was given this warning by Crawford himself.

After mush research considering where I fish and what I wanted, I bought the Legend 'Geaux' Card. The area coverage of both seem the same, I fish Bass exclusively and the enhanced water colors make it easy to see every little run out from the woods into the water I'm fishing. I've only had it on the water for a short time, but really like the detail on this thing. Great coverage Venice and that whole area. I talked to Nick with Legend, a great guy with lots of information. I ordered it online, paid with pay Pal and got the card in the mailbox four days later. And I got it for a good bit less than the other card.

I've been run out of areas of Bayou Black before also. The way it was explained to me is that if you have banks on both sides of the boat, your OK, but you are trespassing as soon as you enter the marsh at any point from a canal.
But there are also some privately owned canals that are legally posted. They all have signs.
Much of the marsh is leased by hunting clubs who encourage the owners to keep others off.
I love fishing that area and I wish their rules were published somewhere so more people could avoid going through the harassment!

A comment titled: Fishing Club in response to a report titled: want to join fishing club

We are always accepting new members. I fish with a small club out of Gonzales, we fish all the local waters and some lakes in Mississippi. We are the Masters Casters, a small christian bass club who enjoy sharing our knowledge about bass fishing. Our goal is for everyone involved to catch fish and have fun. Friendly competition, sharing information. The only requirements we have are that you believe in a higher power. We do not allow alcohol at our events, other than that, we are just plain good folks. We fish one tournament a month, Feb. through Nov. and pick out tournament spots wherever the fish are biting. Give me a call if you are interested. Charles (225) 445-1554

Go to Academy and get a H2O Express Mettle reel for $49.00, it has a low profile, a solid aluminum frame and 10 bearing system. I have six of them, they are very reliable, they have a lifetime replacement (trade in at Academy) and cast a mile! Go read some reviews on this reel. You wont be sorry.

Cabela's are absolutly outrageous on their shiners. The only sane places I know of are Bay Side RV in Port Vincent. 665-4137 / 698-9765. There is also another place behind Val's resturant in Maurepas. I think it's called B&J Bait? I don't have a phone number for them. There is also a Bayside bait in Pierre Part. (985) 252-3333. Good Luck.

A comment titled: Trolling Batteries in response to a report titled: Trolling Motor Batteries

Buy Ac Delco Voyager M29MF, it has 210 reserve minutes and is a GREAT battery. The 29 series is new, the older 30 series only had 160 reserve minutes.I have not found another battery with this amount of reserve minutes in this price range. Wholesale Battery in Baton Rouge sells them for $94 with trade in. You may find them closer to home, but go with Delco Voyager "fur sure"! Read the battery reviews online for all other brands, lots of negative posts. I just spent two weeks researching!

Went back Sunday morning, clear sky, rising barometic pressure, wind changed directions. The fish all had LOCK JAW. I have rarely seen such a drastic change from one day to the next. They totally shut down! Thats why it's called FISHING, not CATCHING!

Find you an O.M.C. trolling motor (Johnson, Evinrude). They don't make them anymore, but I will run one as long as I can find them! They are THE BEST for trolling through grass and last FOREVER with very little maintenance. I bought my last OMC on ebay for $200.00

Check out this website, "www.acadiasports.com" they build a premium rod with a lifetime guarentee. Right now, they offer their F series rod for $65.00. Buy one, get one free! I own four of these rods and love em! They also make a reel, but I have not tried one yet. I plan on replacing all of my rods with theirs! Gotta check them out, Charles D.
